If we couldn’t afford to keep Gentle how could we afford a premiership winner?
I find it hard to believe we can’t afford. Because running last isn’t helping no ones cause.
If we couldn’t afford to keep Gentle how could we afford a premiership winner?
hookers and blow with BernOr have a head of football, but at least we are saving some money for who knows what reason.
As a fan I don't give a f**k if we win the comp and it bankrupts us and then get stripped for cheating. But that's because it's not my job to ensure we don't go broke.Or have a head of football, but at least we are saving some money for who knows what reason.
So can we not afford to replace him also now? And if so why not?If we couldn’t afford to keep Gentle how could we afford a premiership winner?
Because the footy team is also a business. So can we not afford to replace him also now? And if so why not?

Eels coach Brad Arthur is totally focused on fixing Parramatta
PHIL ROTHFIELD, Sports Editor-At-Large, The Daily Telegraph
March 25, 2018 5:00pm
BRAD Arthur was sitting up watching videos until 4.30am on Sunday morning.
Five long and lonely hours while the rest of us were fast asleep. The remote gets a hammering.
Play, Pause. Rewind. Fast-forward. Stop. Play. Pause. Rewind. Fast-forward. Stop.
Over and over again. Welcome to the life of an NRL coach who is winless after three rounds.
He eventually gets three hours sleep.
Then gets up and phones his assistant coach Steve Murphy at 7.30am.
They’re desperately searching for answers to Parramatta’s shaky start to the season.
He has breakfast and watches another replay of the 14-4 loss to the Cronulla Sharks at ANZ Stadium.
Then off to Wentworthville to watch reserve grade.
As coach of a side many predicted would not only make the finals but probably the top four, you’d expect him to sound more alarmed and more stressed. He’s actually quite calm and still confident.
“Don’t forget last year,” he says, “We were two wins from the first six.
“It wasn’t until the seventh round when we got a bit of luck and won with a couple of minutes to go against the Wests Tigers.
“We’ve just gotta stay strong and keep turning up with our effort and we’ll get a bounce of the ball eventually. We’ve handled adversity before.”
Arthur reveals the late night videos are not that unusual.
“It’s part of the job,” he says, “Even the Manly game. I watched it every night last week when I got home after work. My wife said to me ‘why are you putting yourself through it’
“That’s what you sign up for. You get Xmas Day off but that’s about it.”
To change the subject I bring up the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa: “It could be worse, Brad, you could be coaching the Australian cricket team.”
“What’s happened … I didn’t even know the cricket was on.”
Here is a man totally absorbed and focused with the job of fixing Parramatta’s season.
Outside of his family, nothing else matters. Just two competition points next week.
He points out the Eels had no ball in the first half against the Sharks and no penalty until the 50th minute.
“Cronulla had 22 sets to our 12 so when we got the ball we were a bit out on our feet,” he says, “We were running one out and a bit disjointed and flustered at times.
“But our defence was a massive improvement on the week before.”
The obvious problem is that their halves are struggling.
Fox Sports statistics show Mitchell Moses had zero runs, zero metres … plus six missed tackles.
Here’s a guy we thought might play for the Blues in Origin this year.
Corey Norman is playing without confidence. They are not creating opportunities.
But Arthur remains convinced the Eels will get it right.
“We’re in a bit of a rut,” he says, “but I know we’ll fight our way back.”
The interview finishes. There’s more homework to be done for the Wests Tigers game.
Half an hour later he then sends a text: “Can you stress the point that I’m no different to any coach. We all do the same. It’s the job mate and I love it.”
Whilst the buck stops with BA, none if you actually know the root of the problem unless you are in the inner sanctum.
BA has a top 4 side (refer 2017) and in 2018 his team are not producing the extra 1% efforts that are necessary to finish on top.
My view is that it is the 32 missed tackles, ruck penalties, poor kick chase, lack of cohesion in the halves, props not bending the line and edge fowards not creating opportunities that is the difference.
Who’s fault is this ?
I hope he can fix it nobody wants to see him lose his job. I don’t think we will find another coach that is passionate as this guy is.
Passionate only gets you so far. The team looks outmuscled, unfit, unmotivated and out of ideas. Let’s not forget we were top 4 last year, and many predicted with the addition of Hayne and Evans we’d improve on that. Another loss this weekend and we have one hand on the spoon.
Well they didn’t replace Gentle and we still don’t have a head of football, questions need to be asked is BA getting enough help???I admire BA’s hard work and commitment however there would be nothing wrong with him reaching out to management and asking for another assistant coach.
He can’t do it himself which from this article appears to be happening. If we keep losing the man will burn himself out. From time to time everyone needs help.

Outmuscled and unfit would be more question marks to the head trainer...Passionate only gets you so far. The team looks outmuscled, unfit, unmotivated and out of ideas. He's from Sydney. I'm sure he knows the two sports are different.Outmuscled and unfit would be more question marks to the head trainer...
Yes the coach should over ride certain things but I’m sure he also puts faith in the head trainer.
This is the AFL guy correct!?
We are getting dominated through lack of possession. From all reports we did a heap of fitness, a heap of running in the off season.
Have we let a guy take control of things who really doesn’t know much about a rugby league off season?
Was there more concern put towards getting miles in the legs and less on the wrestle etc?
Because we continue to get dominated in most league related matters on the field so far, and so early on in the season is a massive concern.
I assume it was to cut costs. Max has stated many times this is his goal.I got a post deleted just after the loss about this trainer so I need to be careful what to say, but there needs to be serious questions asked of him and why we got rid of so many coaching staff after a successful year?
Not disagreeing totally but I reckon change is good. Cant afford to become stagnant. There were significant issues last year. It wasnt smooth sailing. Our defence was average and at times poor. Our ruck control has always been average and we faded in games on many occasions. Change was required but has it improved us? Id like to say the jury is still out but on current evidence? Well. You know the rest.Outmuscled and unfit would be more question marks to the head trainer...
