I would prefer we didnt do a Canberra on another club. As much as I rate Flanagan I hope he stays with the sharks and wins a premiership. Got to give the sharks club some credit , gee they have fought hard to keep the club alive over the years and would hate for the eels to take their coach.

If they are proven to have used peptides then they are as big a cheats as Melbourne IMO and don't deserve to win shit

What does that mean? Prevent ASADA from doing what they are apparently legally entitled to do? Not much chance.

No Baz, keep them informed to avoid embarressment later on. I don't think anything will happen to him seeing that the Sharks are still in the semis. If it does it will be a PR disaster for the NRL.

Eels eye Green

Jason Taylor isn't the only Roosters assistant coach in the sights of Parramatta. The Eels also have Paul Green on their shortlist to replace Ricky Stuart. Both are under contract to the Bondi Junction club but the Tricolours wouldn't stand in their way if they got an opportunity to be a head coach elsewhere. Trent Robinson has rightly earned plenty of praise for lifting the club to the minor premiership but Taylor and Green have also been integral to their success.

Yeh, but ASADA are under no obligation to keep the NRL up to date with the progress of their enquiries. In particular, if they feel that keeping the NRL super-well informed is hampering their enquiries (b/c people get tipped off) they'll tell them frig all. It may well be that nothing comes of this, but nobody outside a few at ASADA are presently in a position to say that confidently.

The AFL banned Hird not ASADA. Likewise the NRL should allow any prospective employers know what they intend to do with Flanagan, if anything.

Yeh but ASADA aren't finished with Essendon. The AFL can do whatever they like, but it doesn't stop ASADA from suspending players/coaches, or indeed from finding that they have insufficient evidence to do anything to players who may have been sanction by the AFL. The AFL's charges against Essendon are essentially ones focussing on governance / bringing the game into disrepute.

If ASADA suspend a player/coach, the NRL have no choice but to cop it (unless they wan't to withdraw from the whole WADA/ASADA system). Given that ASADA are still investigating, how could the NRL know who they plan to suspend / clear? Doesn't make sense to me mate.

And if you read the whole story it also suggests that it doesn't necessarily mean he has the job. If you were looking at the job I too would be sounding out potential assistants so I can hit the ground running if I was appointed.
I was going to let people find that out for themselves lol.

He is my tip to get it.

. Former Knights coach Rick Stone has emerged as a frontline contender for the Parramatta Eels coaching job next season. Stone had a close working relationship with newly appointed Eels general manager Brian Smith in their days at Newcastle. Stone took over the head coaching job when Smith left to join the Roosters. The pair have remained in regular contact ever since. Stone did an excellent job to guide the Knights into the finals but lost his position when Nathan Tinkler bought the club and signed Wayne Bennett. Although he has kept a low profile as Bennett's assistant, Stone is highly regarded and was also being considered for the Cowboys job. Expect an announcement from the Eels by the end of the week.

The obvious concern with Rick Stone would be his desire to return to The Hunter once Bennett pulls up stumps. I guess our recruitment interviewers would exhaust that possibility during his assesment though?

Sharpie won't make the same mistake as Spags and offer the incoming coach a walk away clause. Whoever it is will be locked in, that's for sure.

To be honest we should not touch anyone from Newcastle after the experience with Hagan, it is too easy for them to commute etc, and after a while lose focus if their family doesn't move to Sydney

Good coach, no thanks

There is another bloke from Newcastle who may be worth a call and throwing the kitchen sink at

Rumours say that his fee guarantee from mr tinkled is somewhat in doubt

He's had a chequered past with our most recent coach and would probably enjoy finishing the job that sticky couldn't stomach
