. Jarryd Hayne is adamant he won't be at Canterbury next season, but the Eels fullback believes Parramatta need to take a leaf out of the Brian Smith era to once again taste success.
Hayne shut down any chance of leaving Parramatta to fill the fullback void at Canterbury left by Ben Barba's defection to Brisbane, insisting he couldn't see himself playing against the Eels.
His main focus is helping the wooden spooners return to the top of the NRL, and says the Eels need to look back to go forwards.

Hayne claims Parramatta hasn't been on the same page as a club since Smith's departure in 2006, and has urged the club to select a coach who can unite the Eels from their juniors right through to the top grade.
"Just little things like being on the same page – I remember during Brian Smith's era, his biggest thing was being on the same page," Hayne said.
"It didn't matter whether you were 15 or 25, you knew the plays so you had no excuse. Whether you played Harold Matts, SG Ball, 20s or first grade, you had no excuse to not know the plays, the plans – and everyone was under that. The last couple of years everyone has had their own agenda and their own side on things from the top coach to the 20s coach to Harold Matts to SG Ball.
"When Brian was there, it was like 'this is how it is done and if you don't like it, move on'. I think we definitely need that attitude back. I was probably the last generation to go through that."
