Roosters players were keen to see Robinson back at the club despite having the 'great white hope' in Taylor already working at the club.

Taylor was only u20 coach in 2011-12, while Robinson was assistant coach thus just guessing Robinson would have had more to do with to top 25 squad then Taylor would have.

I have never coached at the top level or any level for that matter and for this reason I would be a perfect choice as rookie coach. I will send my CV now.

That's a very good point. As long as we've got some merkin overseeing our strategy we can sack all the coaches we want.

We should start advertising for a professional scapegoat. Hell we could even bring in Jason Taylor and make all the fans happy.
It appears to me as though the game has taken a massive leap since 90s-00s and that 'coaches' aren't being geared towards being all-inclusive club coaches. Only those with the capabilities (Bennett), systems already in place (Macguire) or with NRL teams performing well (Robinson), don't have pressure on them.
So in this day and age, the best way forward for teams on the rebuild (us), would be to hire someone to do the 2nd category stuff (non-playing systems) and another to do the 3rd category (NRL wins). That way the 1st grade coach doesn't have to really worry about those silly ancillary things like NYC or contract clauses

Does anyone actually think our side has now been rebuild and what we need to do now is keep our promising juniors and sign a couple of quality players each year ? I do.

Who ever comes next year has the bonus of Ryan/ Paulo / smith/ Harrison all being of contract thus they have some cap space to buy some new forwards.

The next coach really has been given in my opinion a very healthy squad ( if all new signings come, lots of potentially good players and definitely not ageing) in addition to having two genuine stars in hoppa/ Hayne.

I reckon candidates are jumping at the chance to get their hands on the eels squad. The side now has huge potential.

Agree totally mate. The squad is still possibly lacking some leadership but that is also possibly being addressed with the new recruits. If they all come.

I don't want parish.

He's the only candidate mentioned I object to
- apart from da.

As an assistant to our worst coach in living memory he comes with the worst resume possible in my book.

Deputy to Stuart? Pass thanks

IAs an assistant to our worst coach in living memory he comes with the worst resume possible in my book.

Flanagan has gone alright after being an assistant to Ricky during a very poor season.

Also parish was an assistant coach in 2012 at manly and they made the top 4 and the gf qualifier.

But I don't know if he is the answer but a better option then sheens / anderson

Many were as tough as they come before Arthur got there. The only thing it proves is that he didn't f*ck up a good thing.

Or a decent head coach with a coaching director above him..

I'd have Arthur ahead of Taylor.

One of my mates played Presidents Cup with Arthur back in the early 90s. He said Brad was the smartest footballer he'd ever met. And this merkin knew me.

Plus Arthur clearly has the respect of the players. Most merkins think Jason Taylor's a tool.
