That just proves that any coach can win games. What separates the good ones from the rest is the ability to build and sustain a club over time. Guys like Taylor, Fittler, Stuart and Anderson have all had early success at clubs before the joint went downhill.

We want a coach who doesn't drag us down after early success, and the board and players believe Brad Arthur seems the most likely. I wanted him to coach us this year.

Why don't you wait and see how he goes before putting shit on him.

Where'd I put shit on him ? Ricky Stuart got a rails run all year because it wasn't his squad , I was insinuating that if next years more of the same then will we be using the same line .

For the record I agree with the above ,my initial comment was merely a crack at the phrase itself before the super troopers had their two bobs worth .

The phrase itself is more than fair. While I don't believe Sticky or Kearney are good coaches I don't think they're to blame for the wooden spoons either.

I wouldn't say SK inherited a shit squad though , not great but not the worst either .

The 2011 squad, especially the backline, was the worst I remember since Super League saved us. The pack was decent but not helped by Smith and Horo spending half the year in the centres.

And Stuart got an absolute free no expectations run after he pretty much pulled the line out after round 2.

He was right though. We would have won more games if he'd shown more faith in the players but part of showing faith is offering contract extensions. As it is, not showing faith in them allowed us to turn the squad over pretty quickly. It just cost us a spoon.

So while I agree Sticky is a selfish individual, and an ordinary coach, I reckon he left us better off than when he found us. That's the first time he's ever done that to a club.

I'm sure Trent Robinson is happy with the team he inherited, as was Geoff Toovey. Brad Arthur should be happy with the squad he's inherited for 2014.
'ken oath he should be happy. If we get a good run with injuries and Arthur (assuming the mail on him being coach is right) can manage the egos in the team in check then we'll have a strong competitive side.

My spies are telling me that Tommy Raudonikis could make a late surge for the Eels coaching gig. I was hiding in the bins in the Parra Leagues club car park this afternoon and saw a suited Raudonikis leaving the club.

My spies are telling me that Brett Kenny was asleep on the job again at Parra leagues today. I drove past and saw him asleep at the wheel of the ride on mower. When quizzed he claimed his back hurt. Looked to me like he was spying on Raudonikis, who looked flash in a suit.
