Could it be that the Storm couldnt give seat allocations on the unfinished stadium? did they even have non ticket packs?

It just shows why a team in melbourne is really a waste of space, they have played in the last 4 GF's a won 2 of them and their membership drops by 25%.
I can see why News Ltd want out.
i thought that graphic (and i may be wrong) was representative of memberships at that particular time, not today. if that's the case they may still pass last year's numbers.

Quite possible considering AAMI Park isn't even finished yet.

Impossible.

They would have known where every seat in the house would be a long time ago.
Building/working drawings and designs and seating layouts are very accurate these days.
They don't need to have a stadium finished before they know where the seats will be.

well they did build it in melbourne, so the designers might have not have been the brightest people

Oh Sure they would know where every seat was, but not knowing how the seats, and I mean corporates or Stadium members or somethign like that were allocated might have mean they would not have known which seats were available to Storm Members.

Point taken.

You know something else, the stadium, when designed and approved was guaranteed to be expandable to 50 000 seats if necessary. Problem is, the stupid designers also then put an extraordinarily complicated roof on it.
Therefore, if they want to eventually expand the stadium, the cost would be prohibitive because of the work involved in removing and replacing the roof.
Therefore, despite it's design for expansion, it looks as though it would not be financially viable.
Only in Victoria.

It will look pretty though.....

Mark, that would have been worked out ages ago, seriously.

I have to say - being a member is sooooo cool. I just got an e-mail with my exclusive password to buy tickets to the Raiders game. What a shame I won't be able to go. :(

Wtf. Why would the Storm's membership drop 25% right after winning a title?
Yep, it's worrying.

Some people have made excuses for their dip previously, saying they started selling memberships later than other clubs etc.

But it's round 2 now, so to me those excuses no longer count.

When you consider our memberships went on sale October 1 2009, and the Storms when on sale, and I think I am right here 4 January 2010 I don't think they are going to bad comparitavly. Each time I see the updates Melbourne are moving forward in leaps and bounds, and I don't think they will stop until their first game in May, indeed I think April will be a big month for the Storm membership numbers.

If anyone has done poorly, it's the Broncos.

I would have said Manly Last year, I think you are right, but I would go further and say the Queensland sides this year. A 9 % increase in Brisbane is pretty poor when they have pretty much and entire City. Titans is not to good, I wonder if local correspondence can tell us of any mitigating factors for that?

Still would love to see "My Heart and Soul is Blue and Gold" ads on during Friday night football and really push the casual (Blue Blood) membership for this year, and give us a great platform for next year.
