Eels Front page (re: \"COMING SOON...\")

Ok since the official forum is slower than a frickin wet winter at approving posts, I thought I'd come on here and discuss the front page of the eels website. I'm talking about how it says

JERSEY, LOGO, SUPPORTERS CLUBS

Well we all know we're getting a new jersey. Exciting and daunting at the same time. Supporters clubs, well inevitably a new season means supporter clubs for people to join but it's the middle proposition that has me confused. Are we getting a new logo? I don't think we need a new one. I guess Fitzy has given up on the idea of the boys wearing the current ones while simultaneously lifting the Telstra Premiership Winners trophy.

Thoughts People? I'm hoping we're not going to change logos every 3rd year or whatever although in saying that our current logo does look a little like an angry sperm. Something a little less new and a little more eel would look good.

Would be cool if they came up with half a dozen jersey designs and put it to a members vote like souths did when they we readmitted to the big boys club. Although that we never happen ….
(plus not doing anything like souths is the best of ideas)

As for a new logo, hope they get the eel looking a little meaner cause the current looks more like he’s grinning timidly rather than grimacing and baring its teeth like it about to lay the smack down.

Yeah but it also is to weather the pokie-tax storm. I think Fitzgerald has a great mind for keeping the club alive and kicking through this funding crisis all 15 clubs are facing. But he has already taken some measures to ensure we don't end up cash starpped. Selling naming rights to Parramatta Stadium & New Jerseys should provide the revenue we need to push on past 2004.

Just received my season-ticket application and the new logo is plastered all over it. I wonder if the front office realised that they have stolen their own thunder?????

Penrith do it, Brisbane do it , Melbourne do it and the Warriors do it as well. I dont know why they would change the logo anyway. We've had it for 3 years, why not keep it for another 5 years.

I just recieved my season ticket renewals today and it has the new logo on them... i will scan it later and show you all...

It also invites you to see the new jerseys before they are released to the media on the 2nd December...

So the jerseys are in time for christmas and the logo is out now...

The supporters club is changing as well - there is the baby eels, blue and gold army as before and the interneteels.club - for 10 bucks you can get access to the eels stuff on the net...

Any official word from Dennis. When asked about the last logo he stated something along the lines of 'not being able to do much with an eel'. Interesting to see if he'll actually admit he likes it without the 'but...'

That it does, but what will the money be spent on.

We cannot cry poor yet......as the pokie tax has not been implimented ( and there's a chance that it may never be implimented).

So they will get to sell new merchandise, and should raise a fair amount of cash for the naming rights to Parra Stadium.

Assuming the NRL salary cap of $3.25M is for NRL teams only, perhaps some of the money could be spent on our NSWRL teams, ie Premies, Flegg ect.

Instead of trading our juniors, maybe we can fund our junior program a bit better, in other words HANG ONTO OUR JUNIORS.

My initial thoughts on the new logo... IT SUCKS!!![/b]

who knows.. maybe time will improve it and it will grow on me.. but I'm not so sure..

the old new eels logo was an instant hit with me.. but this one.. hmmmmm the crass commercialism of the asics shaped eel isn't appealing... when asics don't sponsor parra in the years to come.. do we get a new logo with perhaps a Qantas plane shaped eel??

no we will get very little money from the naming rights.. and I agree that the new look will generate income.. but i'd prefer the eels to have "our" identity that doesn't smell of corporate money spinning, I don't object to a new logo.. but I do object to the fact that the eel is shaped into an asics logo!!
