If the NRL were going to take junior development out of the hands of the clubs they'd need to put more emphasis on High Schools taking ownership of developing a player and we'd see something similar to the colleges in the USA. I personally don't like the NFL system where there's a draft to get players into teams.

Don't think college is like high school.

It doesn't look like there will be a Late Mail post on the Parra website but I could see #20 and #23 warming up on the upper field at Ringrose.

Will have to wait for the ground announcer to list any changes.

Okay so no official changes.

Fuimaono has gone back to the bench while I believe #23 is Folau. No idea yet on #20.

Parra receive the kick off and begin rucking it out. Muna brings up the last on halfway before Clay stabs a kick downfield. A good kick chase from the Eels traps the Canberra fullback before he makes too many metres.

The Raiders work the ball down Parra's left edge and send a bomb up on the last. Lavaka comes in towards the posts easily.

Parra strike first as Leva Li scythes through some defenders up the middle and strides 80m down field to score under the posts! Superb run from the winger!

The conversion is successful from Davis.

#23 IS Folau while #20 is Eric Newbigging.

Both teams trade possession after the kickoff through some poor handling but the Eels come away with the ball in the end.

Folau hits the ball up from th scrum and is followed by Newbigging. The Eels spin it to the left where Davis is well taken before Kaufusi makes half a break down the middle. From the resulting quick play the ball the Eels come down their right edge where Dockar-Clay opts to run against the sliding defence. He cuts through some poor attempted tackles and brings the ball back around to the right upright. All Parra at the moment, but as we know, that doesn't mean much in the NYC.

The conversion is successful.

Parra makes early metres via Kaufausi who takes another strong charge. Matterson looks to catch the Raiders out down the left edge on the next play but they contain Davis nciely. The Eels then work it to their right for the kick, which comes from ZDC. He sends a bomb up that fall just short of the goal line. A terrific chase and tackle from Kaysa pins the visitors on the goal line.

The Eels surge in defence this set. Great line speed restricts the Raiders and Lavaka comfortable takes their kick and grabs a cheap 15m to start the set.

The home team picks up a penalty late in the set as a marker takes an intercept from Dockar-Clay's dummy half pass. He was never straight and the ref pinged him for it.

The Eels find touch in the Canberra red zone and a couple of tackles into the fresh set they crash over as Matterson puts Muna into a massive gap near the up rights. Nothing fancy in that four-pointer but we will take it.

No updates on Twitter and even nrl.com isn't providing score updates for this game. You're the only show in town, Forty.

Nice work from Matterson from the kick off as he takes a difficult kick and then hits the ball up. Kaufusi continues to work hard up the middle. Markus makes half a break after Kaufusi's charge and the Eels look to capitalise on it as Matterson frees up Davis down the left edge. Davis beats his opposite and weaves inside the cover defence before offloading to Kaysa. Pritchard tries to beat the last defender by stepping to the left but loses the ball in the brief contact with the try line begging.

The Raiders then pick up a penalty that takes them up to half way.

Half a break for the Raiders now but Makelim is able to push ip and shut it down. The Eels then concede another penalty, this time on their goal line.

Time off as Kaysa has stayed down in back field but he is able to get to his defeat and get into the defensive line.

Dockar-Clay makes tow great tackles in a row down the the right edge while Kaysa makes some strong contact infront of the sticks. The Raiders are bereft of options as the camp on our right edge and try to roll the ball in from dummy half on the last but Newbigging scoops it up.

The Eels then pick up a penalty of their own and surge down field off the back of a massive Davis touch finder.

Not much doing for the Eels this set as they try to brute force their way over through the right edge. Clay kicks it towards the posts on the last but it is JUST too long and is taken in goals for a 20m restart. Some strong runs against a retreating defensive line take the Raiders downfield before a grubber kick in behind Lavaka nets the Canberra #5 a try in the corner. Some poor contact early in the set allowed the Raiders to steal some big metres after the tap restart there.

The conversion is successful.

Canberra generate some second phase play this set before making a break down our right off a pretty blatant forward pass (at least from what I saw in front of me). Makelim has to take the man with the ball but it looks like his cover defenders have moved to match the support runners but he is beaten by an in and away as the Canberra #5 races a further 40m down field to score an early brace. Dubious pass aside that was pretty poor by Makelim.

The conversion in unsuccessful.

The Raiders continue to work the ball down our right edge and find metres through second phase play. They drive the ball over half way before driving a heavy grubber towards Makelim. He can't take it on the first attempt and it bounces in goals where he retrieves it but it tackled. Bit of a nightmare period for our custodian.

Line drop out to the Raiders.

The work it towards the posts for the first two tackles before setting up for another raid down our right. Fortunately, there is an unforced error from their half and Parra get a free pass this time around.

A penalty for offside defenders take the Eels up field.

Newbigging takes the hit up from the restart of play and he is followed by Raelli. Matterson wants the ball down the left and gives the pill to Davis, who is well tackles. Matterson is heavily involved around the posts but can't find a way through for his men so the Eels then take the ball to the right where a lovely ball from Clay gives Folau a chance to beat his opposite on the outside. He is barely taken around the ankles but has his right arm free for the offload to Lavaka and Halauafu scoops up the ball and fends through the sliding defence to score in the corner.

The conversion is successful.

The Eels lead the Raiders 24-10
