Upon announcement of the NYC TOTY, I saw the teams from the 6 years previous. We have 1 representative in TOTY this year (Tepai) and 1 in 2008 (T-Rex), with NO ONE in 2009-2013.

Am I the only one concerned with this? I haven't been following the NYC scene for very long, but to the outsider, it looks like our juniors/"acadamy" is not working, or we are letting a lot of junior talent leave our ranks.

The "academy" didn't start until 2011 when Pete Nolan arrived, in the first year or so he had to bring in a lot of players for the 20's as we didn't have many players that were worth a starting spot and those we brought in weren't much better. In 2012 to combat the low rate of 19 year olds coming through to the NYC we had to bring up: Frazer Masinamua, Pauli Pauli, Kelepi Tanginoa, Kaysa Pritchard, Corey Makelim, and a few others so we could be competitive. Last year was the final year of well below average performances for our Under 20's team. In just 3 years we've created a stable environment for our SG Ball and HM players to move up in the Parramatta system, it was easier to do it in our team because of our strong our local juniors are so the main thing Nolan had to do was identify talent that wasn't in our district reps (Ryan Matterson) and then sign those who were the best of our district rep players.

If Moeroa had been coming through between the years of 2007-2009 and had been 18 at that stage he'd be playing for a different club or code imo.

So whom are some of the more notable Parramatta District League Juniors who are now playing NRL whom we failed to identify or keep between 2007-2011?

Hodkinson, Klemmer, Moses, Buhrer, Taufua.

There's also Tony Williams and Daniel Tupou but at least we kept them through until the end of their NYC eligibility. We were just outbid by other clubs for their signatures on NRL contracts, probably because we had no cap space or open positions within the top 25 (known as pathways, to use a buzzword).

Didn't Rod Reddy also tell James O'Connor he'd never make first grade? Add to that list David Williams. At a time both of these players represented their countries in the respective codes.

Taufua and Tupou were both discarded by Matt Cameron (an over rated NYC coach) who told the coaching staff that neither was up to first grade, Hodkinson was let go by Hagan who wanted Finch , Moses fell out with the Matts coach and did not want to play under him, David Williams and Tony Williams were bob offered big money by Manly

Fitzy the genius seriously considered Cameron to be the first grade coach but went with Anderson after speaking to St Helens.

Hodkinson was a pretty big stuff up in the long run. He would've been more than handy. Did he and Kris Keating not play in the same team? Seriously, what was Hagan thinking.

Hodkinson was badly injured in a pre-season trial while still eligible for NYC (2008) and he was off contract so we let him go. Cleal snapped him straight up and he made his NRL debut with Manly in round two 2010 (against us - the day of the infamous Dessie door incident). I believe it was Kris Keating who threw that massive forward pass for the winning try.

Roosters lost tonight, so a win for the boys is guaranteed to give us a top 4 finish.

Let's hope knights defeat the dragons and if we win, we will finish either 2nd or 3rd which will ensure we avoid a first up game against the knights.

Dragins have a better for and against. We would need to turn it around by 30 to overtake them. Brisbane play Melbourne which wont be easy for broncos.

The average margin in an under 20s game would have to be at least 15 points wouldn't it?

I couldn't be bothered working it out.

Only 30 points better, which aren't much. If they lose by 12 and we win by 20, ours will be better

Izzard, Brady, Raeili, French and Kaufusi are all playing for Guildford in the finals this week. All bar Brady are eligible for NYC again next year.
