Junior Paulo and Poorly Poorly must not be eligible.

Junior definitely isn't but Pauli is eligible. However the fact that he only played 4-5 NYC games would count significantly against him.

Ryan Matterson, Fabian Goodall and Halauafu Lavaka (Although the TOTY backline is decked with NRL talent) are the ones that were unlucky, in my opinion.

This team will be bolstered by the returning Tepai Moeroa, and Tepai Tepu-Smith. When both return I wouldn't know who to drop though. Aloiai will move back into the middle with Moeroa taking the left side second-row. When these two come back though I could see this team making it deep into the finals.

You could be right actually. It might only be Pauli that is disqualified.

I believe it's based on the number of games played, either in all higher grades or just in first grade. Rather than how many were played in the NYC.

I recently (like yesterday or the day before) read that he has played too many NRL games. Though I think the guy was talking about Pauli Pauli.

Interestingly, Pauli is named to play in the NSW Cup finals this week. He's hardly played for Wenty this year though (Toutai neither), so I wonder what the rule is.

To play in the NYC finals you have to play at least half of your games in the NYC.

Upon announcement of the NYC TOTY, I saw the teams from the 6 years previous. We have 1 representative in TOTY this year (Tepai) and 1 in 2008 (T-Rex), with NO ONE in 2009-2013.

Am I the only one concerned with this? I haven't been following the NYC scene for very long, but to the outsider, it looks like our juniors/"acadamy" is not working, or we are letting a lot of junior talent leave our ranks.

We've let a few of them leave (e.g. Mitchell Moses in 2010) but for the most part we haven't bothered to recruit any good ones from outside the local area.

You'll also note the last time we had a team of the year representative was the last time we made the NYC finals - 2008.

Kelepi's back!

And for those wondering about eligibility, paraphasing from page 30 of the document located here:
https://www.nswrl.com.au/content/da...mpetitionOperationsManualDocChanged200214.doc

There are five (5) Eligibility categories for Final Series qualifications: -
Level Two – NYC, VB NSW Cup and QLD Cup

a) A player will be eligible to play in the final series of matches in the competition in which he played the majority of or equal number of premiership games prior to the final series commencing.
OR
b) The player has participated in a minimum of eight (8) premiership games in that competition prior to the final series commencing.
OR
c) A player will be eligible to play in the final series providing the higher grade (NRL) is still competing in the NRL competition.
OR
d) A player who has qualified in a lower level or a player who has qualified to play in the VB NSW Cup Final Series will still be eligible to play in the NYC Final Series.
OR
e) A higher level qualified player who has failed to gain selection in the NRL Final Series and is playing in a lower level competition Final Series will be required to have participated in two matches throughout the lower level competitions Final Series to be eligible to continue playing in that Final Series therefore eliminating any of the previous eligibility rules.

The only bit I paraphrased was in point d), swapping the names of the two competitions around, given that page 20 identifies that
The VB NSW Cup and the NYC have “equal status”

in terms of player portability.
