The squad will be trimmed further after the penrith trial this Saturday...

As the season is getting closer and closer I'm getting more and more excited for the U20's. We definitely have a talented team this season and hopefully they are able to deliver a promising season. Also, the more people talk about Nathan Davis the more I get excited about him too, hopefully going to be a good year

Davis is a freak, there no doubt about it but he needs a whole season at that level before we even think about throwing him up against men...

Size wise, it's the biggest squad I have seensoneof those outside backs like folau, Goodall, Davis Lavaka and newbigging are big big boys...

Also throw in the likes of Lachlan Roe, Paea Pua, Paula Kaufusi, and Tui Kamikamica what we have is a very tall team with plenty of potential.

Sure, they're big boys but inexperienced but was just talking about our outside backs...

For the record I think we're a middle of the road side at best

You don't think that the class of ZDC will help them a bit? And if Tyrell Fuimaono and Wayne Francis come in later their talent will push us into a semi-final berth?

ZDC will star for us if he plays NYC (and he doesn't turn 20 until next year so why not let him play under 20s?)

But Fuimaono and Francis are only 18 this year. They're unlikely to make a big impact.

We have some players that could dominate NYC this year (Dockar-Clay, Goodall, Folau, Moeroa) but overall it's a pretty young squad. We can make the finals, but I can't see how we'd be specials. We're obviously a better chance if Pauli plays but he is officially in the NRL squad.

If Pauli , kelepi and Pritchard play a fair bit of under 20's you would think they would go ok. They would really make the pack one of the better ones in the comp.

I would be astounded if Tanginoa played NYC this year. But it would certainly be good for the team.

I've seen Tanginoa tackle Matt Scott one on one and pick him up and dump him on his back! Stop Ryan James one on one on our own line etc

I don't know enough about player development in general or the player in particular to even really guess at that one. Nor do I have any real grasp of the team dynamics in our club.

The coaching staff do, however, and one of the things I'm most curious about is how Tanginoa is used this year.

Physically he's already better than plenty of NRL players, but there is more to the game than just speed and strength.

Yeh, or if not 1st grade, at least playing against men at Wenty I'd think would be better for his development.

You know what? I didn't think of ZDC.. I also think kaysa will play aloy of game time at that level

It's our best chance in a while to make the 8 but we do lack depth for middle forwards

I do agree kelepi is probably one of our best options for the second row but he is still only 19 (almost 20). And he hasn't played any footy in nearly 12 months plus he hasn't even played 10 nrl games. I don't think he is going to go straight into the nrl side especially after playing no footy for 12 months.

He might need some time and I reckon he will start back in the U20 to get up to speed again.

It may only take him a few games to get back into intention for an NRL start but being young and inexperience you never know.

Yeh, but what would playing U20s rather than for Wenty do for him if he needs a bit of time? Not obvious to me that running around against blokes of variable size and class is what he would need.
