With the 5 metre rule it demonstrates how truly great Kenny was. With the current 10 metre rule he would have been unstoppable.
The ten metre rule was a response to improved defences though. With professionalism defenders got much fitter meaning there was less space across the field in general.

I'm sure Kenny would be a great player today but I think he would stand out less. Everybody does. Nathan Cleary is the best player in the game but it's only noticeable on the stats sheet. If he'd played in the eighties he would've been making linebreaks and scoring tries and smashing merkins in defence every week.

Too hard to evaluate. Everything that made Kenny, Kenny would have been coached and trained out of him. The end product would have been a very Unkenny, Kenny.

Maybe. But he doesn't have a kicking game to speak of; and he's been criticised on this forum for being a hog and stifling the attack. Not really attributes you'd want in a five-eight.
I don't agree. His hogging is usually dummy half runs out calling the ball.

But the half should call for the ball.

If he wanted to have a kicking game, guth will work hard on it to get it right.

Do you remember when he first got here his ability to take bond were attrocious. Now he's one of the best under any kicks. Same with his goal kicking.

He'll practice kicking till he's as good as cronk

Would have been pretty hard for Cleary to be making linebreaks and scoring tries and smashing merkins in defence every week if he wasn't even born in the 80s.

Couple of myths debunked in that package, imo:

- Gutherson doesn't break the line on his own
- Gutherson has no kicking game
- Gutherson is slow

Small sample size, but the point is that he can kick, he can break the line, and he's quick enough.

If he were quicker but he’d probably be challenging Tedivesco & Trbbsjewcnic as best fullback.
Also were those kicks from that game where he just went kick mad and kept relieving pressure on Wigers?
The line break really is just a follow on from the quickness thing. He still creates plenty of chances.
My main gripe with him is his onfield leadership and 1%ers (even less than 1%ers). Maybe injuries have been a factor but I mentioned it elsewhere but some things as simple setting Sivo up a bit better on kick returns. Even down to just displaying more aggression on kick returns

It certainly shows his attributes well but I don't see anything there that demonstrates he is endowed with speed.

NRL 2022: Broncos reject Eels’ bid to sign Jamayne Isaako after injury to Haze Dunster

The Broncos have dashed Parramatta’s hopes of raiding their ranks for a replacement for injured winger Haze Dunster.

The Broncos have issued a hands-off edict to Parramatta after fielding an approach from the Eels to sign Brisbane flyer Jamayne Isaako in the wake of Haze Dunster’s horrific injury.
The Eels are on the lookout for backline options following the shocking season-ending injury to Dunster, prompting Parramatta chiefs to make inquiries with the Broncos over the potential services of Isaako.

The Kiwi Test winger is contracted to the Broncos this season, but will sever ties with Brisbane at season’s end to join Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins for their foundation year in 2023.

Given Isaako is not a long-term proposition at the Broncos, the Eels were hoping Brisbane would be amenable to brokering an immediate transfer for the 25-year-old to wear blue and gold for the rest of this season.

But Broncos bosses have no interest in an early release for Isaako, who remains in the hunt for Brisbane’s No.1 jumper for round one after first-choice fullback Tesi Niu injured his hamstring at training last week.
Isaako started at fullback in Brisbane’s 26-all trial draw to the Titans last Saturday night and is also an option for a wing spot for the Broncos’ season opener against Souths on March 11.

Isaako has seemingly fallen down the pecking order of fullback options at the Broncos despite playing 13 games at the back last year, but Brisbane coach Kevin Walters insists he has not given up on the Dolphins-bound goalkicker.

“Jamayne is certainly in the mix,” he said. “He had some time against the Titans and he is very versatile, so while he is going to the Dolphins next year, he can certainly play a role for us this season.”
