Well Max and Bernie aren't desperate. At the end of 2010 we were sliding off a cliff. We had ageing stars on huge money (plus Hayne on the hugest money) and no succession planning. We needed a substantial rebuild and the coaches able to do it were all working for much more professional organisations. In mid 2016 we had a strong club from the neck down.

We are very f**king lucky Arthur appeared. And we are still lucky he has his roots in Western Sydney. Expect the Bulldogs to attempt to poach him at some stage, especially if our off field shenanigans restart when administration is switched off.

I'd be surprised if the dogs haven't already tried to poach him, same with some other sydney clubs.

Parra were not desperate in 2010 ... we dropped off but we hardly sucked ... it was just piss poor judgement from a desperate bunch of fools running the club

Our roster was all f**ked up. We were paying the price for backending through 2007-2009, much like the Bulldogs are now paying for their premiership window of recent years.

Rubbish .. we hardly had anyone to backend at that stage .... it was just a rushed, poorly judged decision - partly done to appease the sponsor who had a boner for SK

It wasn't rushed, apparently it was done through 2010. As for Anderson's credentials, let's not forget only one of him and Kearney are still involved in rugby league.

We were sliding into the abyss, and needed someone with experience in the most professional system to come and implement what was proven to have worked. Obviously nothing will help you on the field when your roster is shithouse. IMO the only mistake Kearney made (beside coming to Parra in the first place) was to sign Sandow. But just like our club, Kearney was in a position where he had to take big risks. That's what happens when you're on the bottom. It's the people and organisations at the top that can afford to take a risk free approach.

The biggest mistake with kearney was to give him total control of everything like he wanted ... he wasnt up to it .... and he was up to so much less as it turned out

was it a big risk?
from memory (and i've purged a lot of them concerning sandow) he was going ok at souths who was to know his form would nosedive at parra

Sandow seemed a great signing at the time, hardly fault SK got chasing and getting him. He showed what he was capable of in 2014 when he gave a toss.

SK was the biggest signing myth in our clubs history. Worse then dykes and sandow.
i'd argue sticky was a bigger myth just because of his higher status as a coach
sk was only an assistant and nz coach (with bennett pulling the strings) sticky had first grade coaching experience, won a premiership + coached nsw and australia

Who should've had control of all the other stuff then? We lacked a capable CEO. Kearney brought the right staff in, including Nolan and Arthur. They just weren't given enough time to rebuild the club.

Only two things killed us - Hayne's injuries and Sandow's defence. They would kill any coach.

His defence was poor at Souths but still workable because he could shoulder charge. But certainly he was under a lot more pressure after switching clubs, and he didn't cope.

He wasn't going that great at Souths.
His attack shone in many games, just like when he was at Parra, but he was always a dreadful defender and would take the wrong option in attack quite often.
One would think with a bit of experience he would fix up the latter (but he didn't), and his defence was never going to improve.

He also had a shit attitude. Could see it at Souths and he brought it to Parra.
