Eels in the media

What connection does Bernie Gurr have with the Parramatta Eels these days? I read that he’s stepped down as CEO but the way he talks on the TCT podcasts makes it sound like he’s still heavily invested in the club. Love his work as he comes across as very insightful.

He loves the Eels (and Easts). He's a very positive chap and will always find a glass half full view.

He's chuffed that we're now an elite team and have our house in order. It all started with Max Donnelly and BA, then MON.

Another good read. Quality analysis imo

I’ve wondered how our 1998 Boncos tactics would go against the Smugs, kicking it over sideline constantly. Sure it’d give them breathing time, but it also forces their middles to take more hitups

Edit for the stats inclined - except for JFH and I’ll give Yeo a disclaimer because he gets a shit load of touches, but the rest of their forwards average as many hitups per game as Oregon so let that sink in

I've mentioned this before. It also makes their forwards walk all the way back instead of wait at the 40m line

Not really, it gives their pack time to recover, which we don’t want. They are already fit / mobile enough.

More hit ups isn’t an issue if you constantly getting small breaks….additionally the backs wouId still take the early hit ups still..…..

as the article shows, stopping their backs making metres is a better option, as it gives less field position and puts more pressure on their forwards - which can lead to errors / fatigue. Breaks reduces this pressure…
