So what does the article say ? Did the NRL tell him to f**k off or are they considering it ? Pragmatism would suggest that time served hasn't commenced, so why not?

Why would the NRL do anything? He made his decision and made it very public that he was sticking it to the NRL lol.
I agree its laughable its taken 2 months for Matto to realise what an idiot he is.

He admitted he was sick of paying the fines. So tough luck you didnt have to be blind freddy to realise what a stupid decision it was at the time.

I do think though if he played for the Roosters the NRL would find a loophole to bend over. That's where the frustration lies.

However the Eels have lodged an objection claiming the deadline for Matterson’s plea was unfair, with an NRL spokesperson confirming to News Corp: “We are in dialogue with the Parramatta club regarding the matter.”

Matterson was hit with the charge the Monday morning after the grand final, which was a public holiday, and only had 24 hours to respond.

But the star forward was preoccupied on that day, attending an Eels fan day and then spending time with his teammates later that night.

The Eels requested a deadline extension but only received two hours.

News Corp claim the Eels are of the belief Matterson would have made a different decision if he had more time.

To be fair there was absolutely nothing in that tackle, Edwards backed into him and kept moving. Matto didn’t apply any pressure , and there was no danger. At the time it seemed as if it was an unnecessary on report, but who knows how the MRC makes decisions. Stupid , impulsive decision but it was such a nothing , mind you the club should have reacted and advised him.
