Well it would be pretty boring if it was just the Roosters, Panthers, Broncos and Storm every year. Sometimes we even finish ahead of some of these clubs. Eventually we’ll finish ahead of all of them. It’s very exciting.

Wally Lewis seems as bias as ever in commentary and Sterlo is the complete opposite.

Yeah it was shocking, didn’t really care that arvo though lol. We did them up there late in the 99 season. They were struggling to make the 8 that season and gee their piss weak fans were shitty. We were waving at them goodbye for 99 lol. That was the year we really should of won sadly we shit the bed yet again.

I remember downloading it about 12 months as i love watching those oldish type of games.

Always good to look back on in that era 1999 & early 2000s as they were my first memory's of watching Rugby League.

Clinton Schifcofske scored a few pearlers that night.

Yeah 1999 seems like another chance of that Brian Smith era that was wasted.

1999 GF my first ever GF i remember watching as a kid.

And i hate to say it but i recall cheering on Melbourne that day have no idea why considering they beat us the week before when we should have been there.

But i was 5 years old so i think i just went with the flow and those purple jerseys looked better then red & white.

Not knowing they would be still be our nemesis 25 seasons on.

I wish he stayed with us after 2000.

Kept Burt & Hodgson over him guess we will never know if we made the right choice or not.

Anyway he has been dumped to the 2nd best Clinton to play for the Blue & Golds.

Great game. We played them twice that year both at the same ground and the beat them. Probably the only team that didnt lose to Brisbane in 1998 which many people believe had they won that semi against Canterbury, we were a massive chance to beat Brisbane in the GF

Ahh yes I remember that game. There was something about that ANZ Stadium or QE2 Stadium that we had the wood on Brisbane. I dont think they lost many games there. That 1999 game was the last Brisbane loss there before they won something like 15 games in a row, until 2001 where it was Parramatta again that ended their home winning streak.

And you mentioned Schifcoske, he had a blinder that night. He played a big of wing at the start of both 1998 and 1999 when we had Carige and Chris Quinn (I believe) but he was obviously a better fullback.

Shame he left end of 2000, I remember he came back into the side after Hodgson got injured, he killed it in the finals. I have good memories of a good run from taking a bomb against the Roosters and saving a try against Penrith.

Great memories but as you said, really blew their chances in 1999.

Based on our clubs track record since 1986, I'd say it's more likely we would have shat the bed in a GF v the Broncos and lost by 20 regardless of what we did against them earlier that season.... it just so happens we decided to our bed-shitting a week prior with 12 minutes left in regulation with a 16 point lead so we'll never really know.....

He's good on that, I like listening to ABC. More in depth with their commentary, there are ex players who sounds a lot better than some of the blokes on 2BC and Triple M

Going off these records Brisbane lost just 23 games from 122.

Parra won there 6 times and got a draw from 10 games. They won more then any other opposition there and basically contributed more then 25% of Brisbane losses at that ground.

i dont know why people get so hyped about beating the panthers during the regular season. we had one game we really needed to beat them and they made us look stupid. if anything the whole beating penrith in the regular season is nothing but super frustrating at this point.

The problem is we can't backup effort from one game to the next against the top sides in the finals.

We never get better and better. We just have a great performance here and there, followed by an average, but sometimes good enough to beat our next opponent type of game as long as that opponent isn't really sticking it to us.

Even when we made the GF last year, our performances getting there other then the comeback with the Cowboys weren't all that impressive really and then the Cowboys game was like Samson getting a haircut just before the Panthers GF. We offered nothing and got ploughed like the bitch we were.
