You take the wins you can get. Penrith have a much better team than we do, so when they take us lightly we should be happy to stick it up them. Just like when shit teams do when they beat us.

Or we do/did have the cattle to beat them, but Potato Head hasn't got the skill set to get the best mentally out of them.

It's not ability we lack, it's metal preparedness and game time focus like champions have. The best coaches know how to address that and make talented players fulfill their potential every week.

Like I said before, read below what Moses said about Michael Cheika when he coached him in the world cup. Who by the way I would love to see us pick as our next NRL coach, especially now that we have a great assistant coach in Barrett to assist him on the X's and O's part of the game.

‘Never seen it before’: Moses’ big praise as ‘unbelievable’ Cheika considers NRL role

Lebanon skipper Mitchell Moses has backed coach Michael Cheika to thrive in the NRL if he chooses that career path after his side’s 48-4 World Cup exit at the hands of the Kangaroos.

They may have been comprehensively beaten, but Moses praised Cheika for getting his Lebanon players up for the fight of their lives against a formidable opponent in Australia.

“He was unbelievable,” Moses said.

“The way he can get you up for a game, I’ve never seen it before to be honest.

“You hear about all the stories about how he gets teams up for games and I witnessed it first-hand and loved working under him.

“I think he has got a big future in the NRL if he wants a go at it. I think he could definitely coach a team one day if he sticks at it and if he wants to I guess.

“I definitely got a lot out of that and I think if you speak to anyone in the camp they will definitely agree with me.”

Greg Alexander has no doubt Cheika could succeed as a full-time NRL coach.

“He said he wouldn’t be surprised if Michael Cheika wanted to coach in the NRL that he could handle it,” Alexander said.

“It certainly doesn’t surprise me either. It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming months and the next year.

“I don’t know how long he is tied up with Argentina for. He helps out everywhere. He is a very busy man.

“He stuck his hand up to coach Lebanon because he loves footy. He loves league even though he is a union man.

“I think he knows all about coaching whether it is rugby or rugby league.

“In rugby union he went through a tough time with the Wallabies, so he is well prepared for what would be facing him if he decided to take on an NRL head coaching job.

“He has got the temperament and the character to be successful, that’s for sure.”

Cheika admitted Lebanon were outclassed by Australia, but was full of praise for his team’s ability to stay in the fight in the second half after finding themselves down 36-0.

“Obviously they are high quality there is no doubt about that,” Cheika said of Australia.

“They showed their individual brilliance at times.

“But I know with that scoreline we can only sing the praises of one team, but I’d very much like to sing the praises of my own team. Well it’s not my team, our team.

“They could have easily just gone away and said, we’ve had a good tournament, we got to where we wanted to in the quarterfinals and they were coming hard.

“But we came back second half and put our bodies on the line to slow that ruck down and get ourselves back in the contest.

“That’s really important because that’s who we are as people and that’s what we want to show people that we are never giving up no matter what the odds are against us.

“I think everyone knows Australia is high quality. I would just like to pay tribute to our team because against super high quality opposition we were able to resist when the chips were really down against us.”

Cheika also paid tribute to Moses for leading his team to the quarterfinals, which guarantees them passage to the next World Cup in 2025.

“He’s top shelf,” Cheika said.

“The quality of his game, both defensively and attack-wise.

“The ability to see what is happening now and what is going to happen. To be able to see through the next phase or this is unfolding out the back and what is going to happen next.

“He is an excellent reader of the game and then the skill-set around his play and his kicking, passing and distribution and courage in defence.

“I don’t want to give him too much of a wrap but he’s got a very good package.

“He’s got the complete package and what he has added here with his leadership around the team has been outstanding.

“He's kept everyone level going into big contests. He’s given the right advice. He makes the right decisions and more importantly he’s able to come back from adversity.

“I think that is a really important trait in a player, so he’s got a big future. He’s only a young fella, so he will go a long way still.”

Based on our clubs track record since 1986, I'd say it's more likely we would have shat the bed in a GF v the Broncos and lost by 20 regardless of what we did against them earlier that season.... it just so happens we decided to our bed-shitting a week prior with 12 minutes left in regulation with a 16 point lead so we'll never really know.....

I suppose who knows. Brian Smith's GF record wouldnt have helped.

I remember getting so annoyed how Broncos smashed Bulldogs that day and we mightve made the scoreline closer if we made it.

The problem is we can't backup effort from one game to the next against the top sides in the finals.

We never get better and better. We just have a great performance here and there, followed by an average, but sometimes good enough to beat our next opponent type of game as long as that opponent isn't really sticking it to us.

Even when we made the GF last year, our performances getting there other then the comeback with the Cowboys weren't all that impressive really and then the Cowboys game was like Samson getting a haircut just before the Panthers GF. We offered nothing and got ploughed like the bitch we were.
We try and play a style where the better teams are better at it than us. Especially, in consecutive games and that's why we lose. The last game, we didn't play panfer or storm 10 years ago style and we won handsomely

We don't wrestle as ba wants us to be the most disciplined team but we get alot of suspensions. The top teams all slow the play the ball and give away 6 agains on purpose because they trust their defence

We buy players and use them against their natural style. We buy offloaders and want them to bash and barge

We buy a hooker who controls the ruck but we really want someone to pass the ball quickly and tackle.

We buy edges who are force to play in the middle.

Its like we buy square pegs but want to place them into round holes

We should devise gameplans which suits the players who we have. Or buy players who suits the game plan the coach wants.

Polishing is not the fastest way to get success.

Until we clean out front office, along with Brad and Murph, we will never ever win a comp, the desire at this club is very very poor, and we like idiots continue lining their pockets, there is no love or respect for the club and what it has achieved, albeit a long time ago, we bitch on here no end, but continue going to games and buy merchandise, as long as we continue down this path,

Ummmmm how was our season not an F?? How do you go from making a GF to 10th??? When a team of plodders like the Raiders make the finals ahead of you it's been an utter failure. The way we waved the last 6 weeks of season until we played Penrith when we showed what we are capable of once the pressure was off.

Your right about the Raiders and the plodders. When a halves pairing of Matt Frawley & Jamal Fogarty guide a side into the 8.

Gee i was pissed off watching them on Sunday about what a gift draw they had to get there in the first place.

Not making the Finals is a straight up F.

From there you get graded.

To be fair given Matterson not paying the fine and Brown's wandering hands as mitigating factors on our ultimately poor season... I would have accepted a D- as reasonable.
