Tedesco was awesome this year. He is still a much better player than Edwards. The Panthers fullback is perfect for them because they can hide his weaknesses; under the high ball and playmaking. Meanwhile his strength as a player (go forward) is exactly what their lightweight pack needs from their back three.
NSW and Aus had to hide Edwards as well??

Why is that a hang up? You’re assuming Reece Walsh can tackle? Kaeo Kini is second coming of Trevor Gillmeister? Papenhuyzen doesn’t get trampled every now and then?
They’re fullbacks. Their most important defensive trait is telling other merkins who to tackle. Other than that if they are making more than half a dozen tackles in a game, then clearly there’s more than a few merkins in the frontline who also can’t tackle
Well a try you save is worth just as much as one that you score. Gutho saved plenty and players like French saved probably none.

If you think it's OK to have arm grabbers as your last line of D, then maybe I am just old fashioned.

Tedesco could be half as good as he was at his best and still be elite.
So a poor mans Gutho???? Gutho has never been elite but is a much better defender with better play making skills.

If Teddy is still elite and Edwards has so many flaws why did Madge choose him over the Squid Games???

Fullbacks being your last line of defence is a shit way to look at it. Or a good way. Last line of defence is only called on because your front line failed, the cover failed and the scramble by everyone else has failed, so now it’s desperation and doesn’t really matter how well it is done as long as it is effective.

Speaking of arm grabbers, I suggest you actually go back and watch some of Gutho’s efforts last year because they were ordinary. Whether injured or poor season, if you want to base who plays fullback around tackling then Gutho would’ve been in reserves.

And how many tries did he actually save? I mean they were great and all but what actual impact did they have on games/season and where do you think that ranks compared to everything else he does during game/season.

Obviously we want them to be at least competent of making a tackle but suggesting they may struggle because maybe they aren’t superstar tackling machines is a weird death ride.

You worry about the tackles, I’ll worry about the twice as many each kick defusal and run they’ll have to do

Teddy isn't much of a playmaker either, though.

His biggest strength was his tackle-breaking ability, and as he ages, he is slowing down.

Great player, but not in the top 8 - in my opinion.

I loved it when Wade McKinnon was our fullback - if the opposition made a break, he would usually make the tackle.

Underrated player.

Would have to include Dean Widders as a benchie, always came on the field and made a difference, it was an exciting period at that time. He and David Solomona offering so much off the bench.
And at his best, Feliti Mateo was an absolute match winner.
