No it's about maturity, whether they are ready to be NRL backups or not. That's why Jake Arthur has been a top 30 player since before he turned 19. Luke Kelly was the same. Debuted at Melbourne at 18, as a backup, because he had good maturity. He was never going to be star, and probably wouldn't ever be a first grader, but every team needs backups, and if they're ready at 18 then they're ready.

If they are 18 and their dad is coach they are ready.

Does the club have the football nouse around retention and recruitment above someone like Cheika to make it work. I don't see it.
Does Cheika have thorough knowledge of players coming through flegg & sg ball, qld cup, nsw cup & nz, I don't think so. Maybe if we had someone like Brian Smith overseeing Cheika, but we don't.

Sure he's a man manager but this club doesn't have a Gould running retention & recruitment to let Cheika just concentrate on the player's headspace.

Don't forget, Maguire took over the Tigers after the massive exodus of Tedesco, Moses and others and still managed to finish 9th, and only 1 point out of the finals with a - 11 for and against. The club needed a complete rebuild but Madge still did an very good job to only just miss the 8.
Nobody has since finished higher with the Tigers so go figure boys.
Even Cleary couldn't do better in his time at the Tigers and had Moses and Teddy in his team. Wake up to yourselves everyone! Pou pau little ba boy. Wake up....


At least once Maguire makes the finals he doesn't flop like the bush coach. Maguire has a 56% win rate as opposed to the bushie 4 from 12 at 33%. Brad is a conman when it comes to capitalising in the finals arena
