This is Bennett’s philosophy too, according to him in the Dolphins documentary.
Difference was , he supported the forwards with athletic , speedy backs so that once there was open space created by the fwds, they could take advantage. Not the case at the Eels unfortunately, despite fwds and halves being handy, the backs were too slow and had no depth.

We are pretty much resigned to the loss of Stef with Richo almost taunting him recently.

Instead we’ve got a bucket of fresh meat for the grinder we are lavishly slopping onto the park early for investment reasons.

I like your junior, pound for pound, superb forward. When he’s on, he brings a lump to the throat and the odd gagging noises.

That's because teaching up and coming players, whilst is best for the club long term, takes time which BA didn't want to risk his job on - hence all the non eels developed players now in reserve grade - Ogden, Lumi Lumi, Makatoa, , Cini, Doorey Greig ect ect. It's been broken for a decade, So ba with his poor 4 from 12 finals record, knew he would likely be re-signed if he took fewer risks with development and just making the 8 was enough.

We were always going to pay the price for this, now we have a pack that's aging with nothing underneath, very few backs knocking on the door, and are in the spoon position all because the fraud looked after his job first.
Look at Penrith’s results prior to 2020. Their last top four finish was 2014, which they achieved with three forwards over the age of 30.

He left for 275k but originally. That was prior to ever playing NRL. It may of seemed high but think of what Murchie cost us. Very similar.
I think everyone knew how talented Stefano was. He could of been given a bench role.
I feel like having juniors who played together a lot will build a better team than just importing players even if the same skill set and level. They have a bond
But the tigers paid overs because they were (and still are) desperate. He did bugger all, in his first few seasons. definitely wasn't worth $275k.

And with that $275k we saved, for the 2021 season we picked up Cartwright on a minimum contract ($120k) and a top 17 player in Papali ($150k).......both especially Papali, had a bigger influence on our performance then Stefo ever would have had, during those years.....

BTW even his performance against the raiders, he played 47 mins for 71m, that's horrible for a player wanting close to a million.

Away with your analysis - leave Pou to his righteous analogies between Bennett and BA

can’t you just be shamed into admitting that this is the best our poor little club can do?

don’t worry Pou, I got your back.

His job is to win games, not develop juniors. This is why modern clubs don't have head coaches who are responsible for everything.
