I don't place Hayne as a big drinker myself? I think he learned at the Roxy a few years back when there was that biting allegation that he couldn't handle his drink, and needs to go easy ;-)

I think Pig was the main drinking buddy/influence, and strangely enough he's hooking up with an old mate next year at the same English club.

Brad Drew and Chad Randall FFS. I suppose if we lose a few forwards next season Hage's will talk Wagon out of retirement

Just to bump this for a moment....

If this is still happening (which is something I doubt) would anyone else think Mark McLinden is worth an offer? He's just been released and is returning to Aus....

I wouldn't mind him, depends what his form has been like over there though. Can't believe he's only 29 still. He definately left the NRL before his best years were up. He's a lot more versatile too, being able to play in the halves, fullback, and a bit of dummy half also if needed.

Probably prefer Chad Randall for that type of role over McLinden. But both preferrable to Drew.

Personally I'd tale McLinden over Randall if given the choice...I think McLinden is more versatile. Randall is pretty one dimensional, whereas McLinden can play fullback, halfback, five-eighth and hooker and is much more skillful IMO. If it's for a bench spot then McLinden suits it better IMO.

Yeah, I agree he's more skillful and has the range of positions.

I guess I was just thinking for the cover in the squad at #9 in case keating gets injured, rather than a bench utility that would come on every match. I'd want MKeating doing 80mins next year, and don't think any of our backs would take too kindly to being replaced for a spell during a match?

It depends who if anyone is released and how much money there is, as to the quality of player we might end up getting as cover for playmaker. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hagan not bother and just go with what he's got, and the club pocket the money, the way the talk is when someone is quoted.

you don't have to be einstein to work out where he's going...

McLinden is a Canberra boy through and through and it just so happens that his old club have just given their play maker the flick...

Yup, I agree. He'll likely head home. However, if the club is looking for a utility, have been discussing about releasing players to free up cash etc etc...then I'd hope they'd at least throw an offer his way. You never know quite what a player will do when presented with an offer they like. Of course, this is probably pure fantasy given the club will think exactly what you and I do in regards to him returning to Canberra and not bother...

Failed. Heard he signed with the QLD Reds.

One day the elbow patch brigade will develop a player.

All this poaching from league, must be a shift away from priovate schools and back to the public system.

My theory on this signing is that he saw what going to RU did to his mate Schivcofski's (sp) career. He can now continue to earn good coin in Europe/Japan well into his mid 30's.

My theory is he saw his buddy making easy money in a soft game....

About time they had some genuine rough stuff in that girly game. Most of the time they go down like a bag of sh*t after breaking a nail.
