Come on phantom, Hayne is returning and you have to accept it. A bit like Jesus only sooner.
At the risk of being accused of being hooked...

Do you think Hayne would make a good five-eighth? Do you think he would now make a better or worse five-eighth than in 2014, before he left? Is it possible that this Jesus will not be the messiah, but just a nuaghty boy...

Will the return of one marquee-salary player from sabbatical is going to in any way repair the damage we've endured to what was a well balanced squad? I don't think so... the fan expectation will be huge, but the return will likely be more disappointing than the seasons since the golden run in 2009.

It's not that Hayne wouldn't make a good half, it's that his running game would be wasted there.

Have a look at the Souths game a couple of weeks ago. Inglis didn't really carve up until he moved out to left centre.

I do think he will be a good number 6. I think he has more ability than Foran and is the most talented player I have ever seen. He will be effective because he has a better pass from left to right than Foran who is predominately a left side half made to play on the right. In addition Hayne has a massive long kicking game that both Norman and Foran can only dream of. Hayne also has a squeaky clean image and will bring more bums on seats than any other player in the game.

I have no confidence in Foran being a long term player at Parra. I think he is highly overrated and I reckon there are several players that I would be better value than Foran at half the price, assuming Hayne doesn't return.

Blake Austin is a running number 6 so is Milford so was Lockyer. Why can't Hayne be like that ?

Milford plays in a hugely expensive team that provides him plenty of opportunity to run the ball against retreating defences. Lockyer rarely took the line on in the final years of his career, and in his early years the game was faster, with more room to move. Plus he played in a dominant side, like Milford. Austin is lucky to run the ball half a dozen times in 80 minutes. Even behind Canberra's monster pack.

Cronulla got a bargain with malony compared to us.
Always wondered why we didn't make a play for him instead of foran.
Almost half the price

Phil Rothfield has quotes from Eddie Hayson

PUNTER Eddie Hayson has denied any knowledge of NRL match-fixing.

“I’m not even worried about it,” he told The Saturday Telegraph in his first interview, “Seriously I’m not.”

The comments from the former owner of the Stiletto brothel came a day after his name surfaced in reports up to six NRL players were allegedly involved in match-fixing in relation to two of the Manly Sea Eagles’ losses in 2015.

“People can say all they want but this is the figment of someone’s imagination,” he said.

“It’s a bloke who wears a rug, we all call him Wiggy. I know he started all this. He’s been making stuff up for six months. The same bloke who said I was kidnapped and put in the boot of a car.

“Wiggy has been conspiring with people to get this fiction story into the newspapers.

“He’s never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”

Hayson would not name the person he refers to as Wiggy.

And deals with the $75k betting thing..

In response to the rumours he recently placed bets on Foran’s TAB account, Hayson said it had nothing to do with him and Foran should have the chance to speak for himself when he is ready.

“But I believe the amounts have been exaggerated to sell a story.” Hayson said.

“He (Foran) apparently transferred $8000 and got two very good tips from a form guru.

“He turned the $8000 into $48,000 and TAB froze the account which is standard practice when you have a good win. A week later the account was reactivated and the winnings were lost. “Somehow $8000 has been blown out of proportion and represented as Foran losing amounts of $75,000.” Hayson states.

Hayson categorically denied he placed any money on the Parramatta-Manly game, and “that includes commission agents, friends or anyone on my behalf”.

In relation to the Manly-Souths game, Hayson insists he can’t accurately recall if a bet was placed and said he is checking his records to be certain: “Regardless of whether or not a bet of $100,000
to profit $90k was placed, the allegations are incoherent and frankly laughable when allegedly players were paid $300k.”

“Players are too professional and too proud of their code and clubs to even think about match fixing.”

I am happy with Foran, lets judge him on 2017 as 2016 is a write off.
I would have found it difficult to follow Parra if we signed Maloney as I just cannot stand the way he "speaks". His grunting is worse for Rugby League than spear tackles, shoulder charges and fist fights as any mother who hears Maloney speak would sign their boy up for soccer.

Conversely, he gives us another big body to defend in the front line.

No way he'd displace French at fullback after two years out, imo.

I reckon French will end up about as good as Albert Kelly. Hayne would displace him in an instant. However, I see Hayne's future in the centres. I think he could be the best centre in the game. He's only played 180-odd games and has a lot of rugby league left in him. Do you have your highest paid player at centre? Well, if you have a Corey Norman at five-eight, a Clint Gutherson at fullback and a half-way decent hooker and half - you can. Piss Foran off. We go okay without him.
