Incredible that merkins on twitter are saying that cos Foran quits, it shows again how we are a basket case and should be punted from the NRL. How is Foran our fault FFS ? So if he was at the Roosters he would not have separated from his wife, had (alleged) gambling issues, (allegedly) overdosed, busted his shoulder and not doing his rehab ?

I am going to go on record as saying that I am disappointed with the news that Foran has quit.

Keiran Foran without the personal issues that he has and is facing is EXACTLY the type of halfback and leader this club has needed for at least the last 10 years (probably longer) and we will be the worse off for not having him here.

Keiran Foran with the personal issues that he has and is facing is EXACTLY the type of halfback and leader this club doesn't need right now and hopefully and most importantly for him, he is able to get the help and time he needs away from the spotlight to sort these issues out and enjoy a long, happy and healthy life.

In the meantime, the game goes on and we will either find or manufacture a halfback for 2017 and beyond that will provide us with the best possible service we can get and hopefully it will be enough to bring the mighty Eels back to the top.

Good Luck Foz.
Agree 100%.

foran can't go anywhere without a release so don't give him one, simples

Foran obviously realises he is no place to play footy for a while and with the drug overdose and recent incident at Brooklyn that is the 100% correct decision. And you want to pay a bloke 1.2 million to sit on the sidelines and attend to his mental health issues? Him asking for a release is the best outcome for us and him.

He could simply ask for Leave Without Pay and we can ask the NRL to suspend his salary from the Cap.

keep telling yourself that when he wins a dally m playing for the dogs next year

Who's to say what he does next year? But you would rather have 1.2 million tied up in a bloke that has serious mental issues and might not play next year?

Has Foran ever even got close to winning the Dally M? And what does the Dally M mean anyway? We have had a player win it twice in the last 7 years and won SFA

On Fox Sports news, it was reported he'd just asked for 'time away', which could mean he just wants to get away for the rest of this season and come back next year. Was also reported our plan was to have Foz & Hayne in 2017, no one or the other
