For all the demonising of Finch (not all of it undeserved), I would still prefer him over Morris, simply because it is easier to find semi-creative hookers than semi-creative halves. Both can play 6,7 and 9 (not all that well), but Finch in theory is a better 6 and 7. Morris is mr versatility but not the Tigers answer at 7.......
They are both on too much money :) At least we have a bunch of good young halves in the reserves, do the Tigers / Magpies?

Wow if you are right the tigers were sure desperate or stupied to pay that amount.

well...what they were looking for was a footballer who could feed Benji defend the line with a kicking game. I don't think they were after a match winner even though they appeared to have paid for one.

It just goes to show the importance Prince was to this side, he more or less gave Benji the freedom and scope to absolutely run wild.

Will Hagan stick with Finch no matter what, or will he mix and match it with Green and other players? any insider intelligence?

Morris is a hooker in my opinion. I believe the Dogs stuffed up by not signing him.
I'm glad they didn't though. Playing Morris in the halves makes him look bad, Finch at 5/8 looks no better

Kris Keating was good first up in premier league but it is a big step up and would like to see him play a lot more at that level before being considered for NRL.

it's a difficult situation to be in we're a club with several up and coming halves and we're not going to be able to keep all of them.

Tim Smith
Blake Green
James Maloney
Kris Keating
Trent Hodkinson

juniors

Cam Speechly
Albert Kelly
Daniel Mahoney

all of the above with the exception of James Maloney atm, have firstgrade written all over them.

Totally agree but geez Blake has the runs on the board!

Have you seen his credentials to date. One of the most impressive apprenticeships EVER in Rugby League history!

Including;
Australian Schoolboy Captain of successful touring team.
Voted best and fairest from that tour
2 Premier League grand final victories
Best schoolboy talent to come out of Westfields
IMO - best debut performance of an Eel that I can remember!

He must be signed for at least 3 years and it has to happen before the end of April.
We will get him now at the right price. If he continues to play like he did on Saturday night his asking price simply go's up with demand from other interested parties.

DO IT NOW FITZY!!

He was actually in the losing Flegg side in 2005, however i agree with all you have said above. Keating may be great now but he is 18 and we don't know how he will turn out. Blake is 20 and has acheived all of the above and successfully debuted, do you risk all of that in hope that Keating does the same thing? If that is the path they go down, i will be shattered that Blake is leaving (as he is one of my favs) but i will support the decision and enjoy watching Keating come through cause he certainly has great potential

Lyon did not play 5/8. Such a critical position. IMO it can be easy to look good in the outside backs.

To create the structure and make the right decisions in wet conditions was very impressive, but what did it for me was his defence! SUPER!

I agree with Cardinal, he did the job well, he was very solid and added a great deal of stability in our attacking structure he didn't have that X factor game about him where he may of kicked a couple of 40/20's at vital times, kicked a field goal, set up a few tries and snapped the line...

I have no doubt that'll come later on though..

very debut...but not brilliant.
