having watched a fair bit of the kid, i wouldn't be to concerned if he decided to leave. He is very replaceable, and the aforementioned article is exagerating his overall performance last night

I think Green would need a few consecutive games like that in the top grade before he'd be considered a first choice NRL 5/8, but he definitely deserves the opportunity to have those consecutive games.

The Raiders were obviously targetting Tim last night and gave Blake a mile of time. I don't think other teams will be so generous. Especially when they have some video footage and a week to prepare for him, instead of a day. If he can get close to last night's performance with a bit of pressure on him, THEN sign him up long term on a deal structured so that it increases each year (given that he hits certain targets). That way, we have a full offseason and another year with him on an affordable salary (with the understanding that if he's good enough, he plays first grade ahead of the higher paid Finch) to decide if he's going to make it long term and we can give Finch the flick.

Tim played an awful lot better with Blake by his side last night, he looked like he revelled in the position and loved every minute of it.

Well done Blake, great game!

People are never happy around here, they constantly find ways to put players down......
i was thinkin the same thing. Until he made it to first grade everyone wanted him there, now he plays good and he's replaceble. Why didn't anyone say that before when were going crap.

lol... one poster by the name of "ROGUE" and with 20 posts to their name makes one comment about him being "replaceable" and it baits a couple of responses.

It is more than 1 poster that craps on about all of our players.....nothing is EVER good enough, i am actually unsure if players don't want to come her because "they don't like the coach" or if it is really that the fams are a bunch of sooks and if you have a bad game then you are public enemy number 1

hey Kornstar..welcome to the siege mentally of a Parramatta supporter this has been going on since I've been a supporter in the mid 70's and the following players were always targeted by fans.

Neville Glover
Ray Higgs
Stan Jurd
Michael Mosley
Greg Drake
Tulson Tollet
Paul Carige
Chris Quinn
Adam Dykes
Andrew McFadden
Luke Burt
Tim Smith
Ian Gately
Eperama Navale
Wise Kataverata
Corey Pearson

and i'm sure there's been many more, so why should things change now..I've been accused of being Burt lover because I've defended him for so many years so why all of a sudden has it come to your attention.

When I was young I was always told by old next door neighbour who used to take me to Parra games at Cumberland oval that every player that comes to the club should earn the praise from supporters if they wear the jersey it was the Parramatta thing to do...

you're obviously passionate as most of us are and that's fantastic and you feel that strongly about it I would expect in future that you defend all your players as your doing now and wish you all the best in the process because i think you'll need it. ;-)

Kornstar, don't let one performance fool you mate or you could be made to look very silly...

Just a thought mate.

*Edit*

Eela had the same thought.

What I'm simply saying is, one game doesn't make a player or a season. They need to back it up. I was so proud yesterday of the kids who came up and looked like season First Graders. It showed that he was ready for it. I thought they were solid, but it wasn't exactly a crunch game and the opposition were truly beaten without offering much. But lets not get on a high horse and say "I told you so!"

These things have a habit of backfiring...

I think the difference is that Tim Smith has actually shown he can play whilst alot of the besieged players on your list were mediocre.

It has annoyed me for a long time, this last week it has really got on my nerves because i have been on holidays for 3 weeks and sat infront of the computer alot more than i usually would reading all the comments and i have just cracked with the seemingly endless amount of unsatisfied supporters we have, nothing is good enough.

I know what you are saying, i really do, i have a question for you though. Do you think the witch hunt for Tim is justified considering that most of the people calling for Timmy to be dropped are also calling for Finch to take his place in the number 7? Finch has not done anything to suggest he should be ahead of Tim, yet people are convinced he should be in the number 7.......it doesn't make sense......

I have in the past defended Burt and Ash, who were under great fire too at certain points.

Don't get me wrong, players are going to be criticised, we are on a forum, that is the point, i just don't get how some people can be so negative about everything and i think Tim Smith has been unfairly treated considering how bad the WHOLE team started last season and this season, yet he has been the scapegoat the whole time.......

Some posters crap on about everyone all the time; some have their favourites that they'll pick on no matter what; and others have high expectations and will stick the knife in as soon as something goes wrong. Yes, we have fickle fans, and maybe this one particular post in one particular thread was the one that was just a bit too much to take, but I think this thread needs to be taken on its own merit. THIS thread is about Blake Green being made first choice 5/8 in first grade. A couple of regular posters (myself included) have said that he had a good game and deserves his shot to continue to prove himself, but that he doesn't deserve to be automatically considered as our long term 1st choice 5/8 after one performance under last night's circumstances (ie. let's not get too carried away too early). I can only see 1 post in this thread which might be considered to be "bagging" Green and even that one, which claims that he is "replaceable", isn't directly saying that he's crap.
