I think the difference is that Tim Smith has actually shown he can play whilst alot of the besieged players on your list were mediocre.

well, plenty more in the list have shown they can play also, for instance while Timmy had a vintage 2005 Dykse had a steller 2001, except for the fact that he was wearing a sharks jersey at the time.

I'm not one to bag players in fact I'd like to think I can defend all of them when i can but sometimes I think that Pete's "Koala" definition with Tim does ring true and then there are people in the board who bag Burt lovers for defending him. so personally, I get a little confused with the whole thing..

Well he got the Dally M because Fittler got suspended and was inelligible, i don't believe he was the standout of 2001, he was good but imo not good enough to be signed to a 4 year deal.......it should have been 2 years with an option in our favour for the 3rd.

It has annoyed me for a long time, this last week it has really got on my nerves because i have been on holidays for 3 weeks and sat infront of the computer alot more than i usually would reading all the comments and i have just cracked with the seemingly endless amount of unsatisfied supporters we have, nothing is good enough.

I know what you are saying, i really do, i have a question for you though. Do you think the witch hunt for Tim is justified considering that most of the people calling for Timmy to be dropped are also calling for Finch to take his place in the number 7? Finch has not done anything to suggest he should be ahead of Tim, yet people are convinced he should be in the number 7.......it doesn't make sense......

I have in the past defended Burt and Ash, who were under great fire too at certain points.

Don't get me wrong, players are going to be criticised, we are on a forum, that is the point, i just don't get how some people can be so negative about everything and i think Tim Smith has been unfairly treated considering how bad the WHOLE team started last season and this season, yet he has been the scapegoat the whole time.......

as I said I don't like to justify any critisism for Parra players, unless it's constructive off course..call me gutless but that's just how i feel, I know how hard the Tim's, Finch's and burt's train to get to the level they're at and I have a great respect for that, just as I've had with our recent ex troops who have moved on such as Vella and Ash who have both gone through really challenging adversaties in the life and career and have come through other side and are now enjoying their careers.

hindsight's a wonderful thing but he was killing it at Cronulla at the time and we were competing with the bulldogs for his signature.

Piggy is out for around 4 weeks so maybe if finch is right he could play from the bench as a dummy half.

PARRAMATTA Eels unveiled a 20-year-old five-eighth destined to be one of the NRL's hottest properties as they ran seven tries past a listless Canberra last night.

With Nathan Hindmarsh dashing 60 metres for the longest try of his senior career, the Eels embarrassed the Raiders.

But the talk was about debutants, five-eighth Blake Green and centre Krisnan Inu.

Green, a Hills District junior, revealed he was not contracted beyond 2007.

"Hopefully I can pick up a spot somewhere else, if not here," Green said.

"I'm passionate about the place. I love living in the Parramatta area and I'd love to play for Parramatta for the rest of my life.

"But I want to play first grade, so wherever I can get a position, I'm happy to play there."

With so many clubs searching for a halfback, the Eels youngster could be sitting on a pot of gold if he can impress this season.

His manager Isaac Moses said: "Manly were interested before and a couple of other clubs have just kept tabs with him.

"He wants to play NRL and if he can't do it here then he's willing to look at places where he can."

Five days after capturing the competition's imagination with a shock win against Newcastle, the Raiders started strongly. But when Hindmarsh took a 12th-minute hit-up on his 40-metre line and ran through the teeth of their forwards, it was game over.
Canberra captain Alan Tongue said referee Gavin Badger called second rower Neville Costigan offside before Hindmarsh waltzed through.

The ball is in our court. I do not see this as a Tim Smith V Blake Green thing. I see this as a Green V Finch thing. Kris Keating is still a season or 2 away from first grade.

If our management is smart, Blake Green should be signed to a new 2 year contract. It should be 3 years if Tim Smith decides to go to the Broncos or another team in need of a 7.

Is that you are only as good as your last game.

Well if that was the case I think for their last games, Tim Smith made a few mistakes but may end up with 3, 2, 1 points vs Finch who unfortunately was quite as a church mouse.

But then again the Beauty of league, it is on again next week and that may all change.

I know he said something like he couldn't leave his mum but it was the first grade opportunity that he wanted. If he was under contract would the club had released him??

Moving interstate is a big move when you are in your teens (as he was at the time), it aint easy to leave everything you know. Remember he also had a phone call from Hagan, whatever he said obviously helped with the decision too.

After hearing interviews with Bellamy, i am pretty sure Inglis was a forced move to 5/8th earlier than he really wanted for lack of finding a suitable replacement. He only really talked about Inglis moving there when the season was pretty much over.

I actually thought there was talk of him shifted there via the media when it was decided that they didn't want to retain Hill, I remember it because Hill at the time was considering in joining us instead of going to England, so I kinda took special attention to what was happening.

All of the above is pretty much the way i read into it too, the initial Inglis to 5/8th talk was all media crap, Bellamy himself really didn't say it till possibly after the GF

They could be playing Geyer ar 5/8 and have steve Turner in the team or Aubberson who they would rate higher than Green I suspect. The fact is Bellamy thinks Inglis will be a 5/8 for the rest of his career so he is not prolonging it. If Green had signed with the storm he would be playing in Brissy with there feeder club.

also, the problem with a kid going to Melbourne after being at a c lub for a few years meant if you didn't make firstgrade that week you would have to jump on a plane on Thursday and head to Queensland to play in that comp..there's no real stability to stay in the one city with the firstgrade side., I remember talking to Jeramiah Pai who used to play for us than went to Melbourne and he hated it because he was never guarenteed a firstgrade spot.

That is very true, Blake maybe saw that Aitken and Aubusson were in the same boat.......a 2 and a half hour flight every week would get tiresome while waiting for an opportunity......way too much time to think
