If we make finals and get Terepo fit with Bevan, taka scott ,moses and some other guys form gets better then we can win comp. Just like titans and penrith can. Few teams cant cause dont have the guys who can turn it on.

But with semi, jennings, bevan, norman, moses in your team it only would take them all to get into too form to have a chance.

Throw in Gutherson and Kaysa improving each week. Its not impossivble.

I still think titans, canberra, panthers would be chances. Better ones then dragons.

I believe the posts I was responding to related more to forward years recruitment.

I knew we weren't winning any comp in 2017 before the season started.
Me too. I think we can make the eight this year (50% chance) and next year we'll be better, maybe a lot better. 2018 might be a peak for us or we might continue to build. IMO it will be the high point of our quality, and hopefully we can prolong it for a few years.

Hindy, no disrespect. I like the blind enthusiasm in your post but in reality I don't think we have the cattle to make it to the 8 and beyond this year. Others have rightfully pointed out the shortcomings of why we won't already and I tend to agree with them. As much as I would love to be proven wrong I can't see us getting better that 9th this year at best.

Better packs? They literally now have one decent middle forward. They're no longer a contender for the title, but probably have enough talent when everyone is fully fit to make the Top 8. Might struggle if they lose a few around Origin time though.

As for how they went against the Dogs, perhaps the Dogs pack need to have a look at themselves to work out what happened there, I think it was more a Dogs poor effort.

We didn't lose the game in the last 20 minutes against the Roosters,so the injuries to the backs was pretty irrelevant to the overall result.

Put Graham / Jackson / Klemmer / Lichaa in our side and we go close to winning the comp.

Oh course we didn't lose the game in the last 20, but their last 3 or so tries was because of them targeting our injuries in backs and thus the score blew our.

No 2019 will be our peak.
Normie and moses a year together and Bevan will be fully tuned.

Also lot of good juniors will push in and give us cheap options.

Their superior performance over multiple seasons is evidence enough. What counter evidence do you have against my assertion?

I've got as much evidence as you do, but I'm not the one claiming they have more TPA's than some of their other Sydney counterparts. You are.

I don't see there is any way a club like the Sharks would have TPA's that would be even remotely close to the Dragons, Manly and Souths. I think the Sharks have been fortunate up until this season to get plenty of players on unders or get value out of them.

The Broncos were paying most of Barba's money the last two seasons.
Townsend was unwanted by the Warriors
The Dragons didn't even see Bird as a First Grade player
Prior was unwanted by the Dragons, Tagatese would'nt have been on much
The Panthers were paying most of Lewis' money intially, as were the Tigers for Fifita and Heighington, but that was sometime ago.
Holmes, Leutele and Veki would be providing considerably more value than they're costing up until this point in time. Bukuya is probably being subsidised by the Warriors, if I'm not mistaken we would've been paying some of Seph's money.

The key to their Top 4 side for mine over the last 2 1/2 seasons is their lack of injuries compared to others.

Well with over 1/3 of the comp gone we are just outside the top 8 on for / against and just 2 points from 5th spot. So I reckon we definitely have the cattle to make the 8 (the first 10 rounds show that).

Not if they always played like they did on Thursday night we wouldn't.

What are you worrying about losing 48-10 for? The game was over and we were f**k all to none at 16-4.

We are not a fave to win it. But todays team?
Lets take out 4 roosters players from top 17 and add Beau Scott, Bevan, taka, terepo. And maybe Moses. To ours.....

Leagues simple. We have enough strike weapons to score 20 points. Get to top 8 and hope ball bounces our way.

But, but! The duke was sprouting on TV during the game about how the top teams have a roster of players with more NRL games under their belts than lesser teams.

None of those teams on current form are capable of winning the comp either.

I'm sure our current forward pack is good enough to jag a Top 8 spot. But, are we happy with middle of the road with the potential to maybe jag a Top 8 spot or do we want to be Premiership contenders.

Of course I want to be premier contenders and I am f**ken sure BA does and he probably working 24 hours a day to get us there!!

So not sure what your point is!!

But BA also knows we need to improve our squad - thus the recruitment of a half / middle forward and search for a hooker!!

Let's not forget this year is probably our "baseline" year where finally all our cap / management isssues have been sorted and we can finally look at strategically improving our squad rather then just being desperate trying to sort all the shit out!!

No point in having the strike weapons if we don't know how to fire them.

Here's our run home (opponent's current position on ladder):
R11: Raiders (10th) ANZ
R12: Rabbitohs (13th) ANZ - prior to Origin I
R13: Warriors (12th) ANZ
R14: Cowboys (6th) Darwin
R15: Dragons (5th) ANZ - prior to Origin 2
R16: BYE
R17: Bulldogs (8th) ANZ
R18: Storm (1st) Melbourne - prior to Origin 3
R19: BYE
R20: Tigers (15th) ANZ
R21: Broncos (4th) ANZ
R22: Bulldogs (8th) ANZ
R23: Knights (16th) ANZ
R24: Titans (11th) ANZ
R25: Broncos (4th) Brisbane
R26: Rabbitohs (13th) ANZ

You think we can't win eight of those?

But your previous posted suggested that it was good enough, why would we need to recruit anyone else if that was the case?

I think the way BA is recruiting and structuring our juniors, we won't have a "high point", we may just be consistent over a few years

I like titans thou. I took the $41s..... There time has come, Fast mobile pack, good halves and hooker. And Hayne and hurrel in centres.
Id argue there starting 2 props are best combo in NRL.
