No, 10 points is significantly more in a single season - 4 points is just two wins, or the two byes if you want to think of it that way.

No big deal if the coach has got the team focused, and the fans put down the pitchforks about replacing the board (which will be in the nrl's hands).

I'm glad you're replying Hiney, because it gives me the excuse to bring out this one... ;-)

A few merkins on here have suggested that the NRL take us over.

So dumb. Be very careful what u wish for.

We will immediately cease to be on the same playing field as the real deal contenders.

In what way Gronk?

Because every club pushes the envelope on players signings. Real deal clubs do nudge nudge wink wink deals all the time. You'd be a fool to think otherwise.

Having the NRL in charge would mean that we can't enter into 'grey area" deals like the rest of them. Which means that we'll have a strict $7m cap and others $8m or $9m.

Agreed, the NRL taking over has gone really well for the Tigs, Tits and Knights, right? Yeah, that sounds like a top idea.

While I have said many times that I agree that the current board haven't done the best job, any "new" board isn't going to do any better, unless we can bring in some legit qualified people to do it, and I doubt that there are properly qualified people that are also passionate eels fans, which is also a pre-requisite for sitting on the board, IMO anyway.

If there are properly business & football qualified people out there, that are also passionate Eels fans that are willing to subject themselves to running for the board, I'd love to meet them. I'm willing to bet they have an awesome collection of hens teeth.

My theory is the NRL know how many points they wanna take off us and are waiting to make the big announcement until we get to that many points - so on the surface it looks like they will be saying, look how harsh we are we took all their points. So ... that means its more than 6.

Its a good theory and im sticking to it merkins

Is the NRL contradicting itself over the Watmough issue?

Aren't TPA meant to be independent from the club but then they are investigating that we didn't correctly inform the club about the Watmough TPA issue (and the relationship between the TPA and a sponsor).

If TPA are truly independent from the club, how is the club meant to know all the details if they aren't involved in the negotiations?

Actually I'd like to see an executive summary of the alleged breaches. IIRC there is the Watmerkin thing where we used his TPA sponsor for some job. Then there's a TPA company that we gave tix in a corporate box. Payments to Hayne. Anything else ?

I'm a bit the same.

Where will the passion for the Eels to do well come from if we are run by a bunch of drone bean counters ?

Not really funny or a merkin....

We've finally got a good squad this year, after years (decades?) or dross :D.

The more air people give to any boardroom "dramas", the more chance that we all lose sight of the bigger picture - which is a winning Eels team! A deduction of four points is really nothing, and is on par with what happened to the Warriors in 2006.

The Warriors fans didn't slit their wrists... their team wasn't good enough to make the 8 that season, but we are this season - even if we're deducted four points.

here's a challenge for you and assuming that the decision will be handed down before the next AGM i dare you to tell the members in the auditorium to calm down.. we got dis!

I'd love to see the reaction...
