Tackle Four – Integrity Unit gets heavy
The Integrity Unit’s conduct during the Eels investigation has hardly been impeccable. We’ve been privy to several accounts of pressure upon potential witnesses and informants.
Many hold positions or interests elsewhere in the game; beyond their dealings with Parramatta. Some are service providers, some sponsors, some staff.
Integrity Unit representatives have not been afraid to remind them how those relationships could be compromised by a failure to co-operate.
Indeed.Until the NRL findings are delivered, and the basis of what has occurred in truth and not based on media agenda/speculation, there should be no talk of a no-confidence vote.
Is the tide turning? There's a distinct lack of pitchfork-inspired drama llama action in this thread today...
Reading through today's replies, it almost seems that people here are starting to realise the Telegraph (and the people that leak to it) have been dining out on 2013 material, relating to minor concerns about contracts/TPAs put in place prior when to the current administration came to power...
Is that all they've got? Is that all this is about? We've been cooperating with the NRL since the first enquiry, and righting the past wrongs as they've been identified. So at most a technical breach re the tangled entities of the Watmought TPA not being checked? Why on earth would any of this cost us a points deduction?
Oh, but... "sack the board" anyway, right? :sarcasm:
I still don't think we will lose points. How this is worse to the Cowboys scandal about cheap housing about a year ago is hard to see
Are you saying that the media have an agenda???Is the tide turning? There's a distinct lack of pitchfork-inspired drama llama action in this thread today...

He wasn't an associate of the club he was the chairman, he's one of the bigger property developers in Nth QLD. And as Gronk has stated they barely even looked into this.Um. I have no idea whether we'll lose points, but...... Where is the evidence that the Cowboys actually provided cheap housing (outside cap limits) to the players? An associate of the club sold them property, but where is the evidence that it was below market? I've seen not one scrap of evidence that the properties were sold below market (at purchase date). Some articles reported the purchase price and the 2015 price of properties.
Greenburg such a trustworthy characterThey didnt investigate it baz. They didnt check values of land sold nor did they acertain building costs or actually verify anything. The integrity unit was never involved.
They never checked that land was transferred at market value. They never checked if building costs were at market or if players actually paid for what was constructed. Greenberg flew up and cleared them same day.
The below article just says that they will investigate it further if new info arises.

NRL head of football Todd Greenberg and integrity-unit boss Nick Weeks were in Townsville on Monday as part of a standard review of each club’s operations.
It is understood Lancini used the meeting to address any salary-cap concerns, with Weeks confirming on Tuesday the NRL’s ethical watchdog will not take action against the Cowboys.
“As any new information becomes available it will be reviewed by the auditors,” he said.
The Cowboys last night offered to comply with any further NRL salary-cap probe should fresh evidence arise.
Hardly a forensic investigation. Did they obtain independent valuations on land transferred ? Did they ascertain evidence that a money trail actually existed for each land purchase ? Did they examine building contracts ? Did they ascertain evidence that a money trail actually existed for each progress payment under construction contracts ? Did they ascertain if the quality of the fit out was in accordance with the schedule of finishes in the construction contracts ?
No they flew up and had and chat and flew back.
The allegations were that players were receiving land under market and houses were being building on they without remuneration or the houses were paid for basic design but a luxury house was built instead. Clearly a thorough investigation was warranted ? No it seems that unless the media provide the NRL with a smoking gun, they do f**k all.
