NRL only care if there's going to be media around it. All of the big salary cap busts have come from someone inside leaking it or in our case our administration telling the NRL what had happened previously and what was about to happen.

All the big issues come from a whistleblower. Look at the Libs donation scandal, the CommInsure fiasco, storm financial etc. remember why Glen Duncan resigned? was it over Ozzbourne and his behaviour ? How did Spags keep him quiet?

They were just talking about it all on 2MMM.

1. They say that the Semi thing is crap but say that Semi is owed TPA money as are a few other players. Then they (Reid, Gallen etc) all start saying that the Eels better sort it out and make sure they get paid. I thought that we dont have anything to do with TPAs and can't guarantee them ? Round and round we go ....

2. From what Brett Reid has seen there is nothing that would cost us points.

3. This is all happening because of "factions" calling the media.

Factions, would that be Spags, Fitzy plus their lieutenants? Pretty easy to work out

That makes sesnse.

Despite the reems of column inches, there is actually very little in terms of any identified actual issue. Watmough's TPA provider getting use of open air coprorate seating at the stadium or something? What a non-issue...

Yep, no surprises there... the usual suspects doing their usual destabilising thing. Good on the current Board for standing strong.

And what happened to that Hadley rumour that one of the directors stood down? Mis-understanding? Fabrication?

This is why players have to have managers, Gallen is too stupid to know that TPA's must be arms length to the club, but I'm sure if one of his sponsors didn't pay he would risk his club breaking the salary cap to at him the money owned? Like if Gallen said the eels must make sure the TPA's are honared then he is just had too many hits to the head.

Also goes to show that the players know that the clubs organise and at some level back up the TPAs.

Shows what a farce the whole TPA rules are.

Absolutely. The whole thing has to be changed or we'll keep reading about it as nauseum, when it suits someone's agenda.

Not obvious what changes can be made (other than removing the cap). I guess they could make it a requirement that all registered 3rd party agreements must include a positive statement by the player and TP and (perhaps) club attesting to the fact that this is an agreement between the TP and the player that, in the case of default, the player's club cannot act to secure payment of amounts in arrears, and nor can the player of their manager attempt to induce the club to do the same. But, I doubt it would do much good unless the CBA was changed.

The fact of a 'loophole' doesn't mean the rules have been broken, it just means there will be pressure to change the rules (close the loophole) before anyone else can benefit from it.

so it's fine if every other club abuses this loophole but as soon as parra get a benefit then it has to be closed immediately

I don't understand how it's a loophole if it's a genuine injury.

Does anyone recall how the roosters signed malohny a few years back??? Or how they had fegurson on the books as a recruitment officer for 600k the year before he was allowed to return to the NRL??? That's a loophole.

Ferguson wasn't on $600K the year prior as far as I recall, he was on minimum wage from memory

Well.....they didn't. He was on nothing like 600k as a recruitment officer.

And how did we get away with paying Hoppa while he was on his missionary stint. Always letting the Eels cheat.

As stated above, I think I read somewhere he was signed to ridiculous money. Regardless of the amount, it was a loophole.

And how is it comparable to hoppa??? By all accounts hoppa's first two years were included in our cap, while on his mission. Furgersons' $$$ weren't. We were losing by having hoppa on our books, paying him to pedal around Brisbane. I'd hardly call that a loophole. He was eating cap space.

And I'm only pointing out previous loopholes by other clubs. Now these clubs are supposedly crying over the choc scenario.

The Paul Kent spin.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...tory/636e4bc8f87242111e0ad314ff462505?login=1

SEMI Radradra’s statement of denial was released by the Parramatta Eels on Parramatta Eels letterhead, complete with the Parramatta Eels sponsor high and visible.
It led: “Dyldam Parramatta Eels winger Semi Radradra says he’s not considering leaving the club ...” and went on to say everything we have heard from Parramatta before.
Whenever relations break down between player and club and the news leaks to us pesky rascals in the press, the denial statement is the first on the road to reconciliation talks behind closed doors.
By dressing up their statement as more corporate advertising the Eels actually undermined the strength of their statement.
