There is nothing in that story that claims possession of correspondence from anyone other than Beavis. The only documentation from the club that is mentioned is the agreement signed by Mossop and the club, which was subsequently registered with the NRL.

Which as far as testable evidence goes, makes the whole story based on hearsay.

What are we going to do?

And they did a big expose on that measly amount and both f*cktards who did it were fired.

The media is getting out of hand.

The issue will be whether this was disclosed to the NRL during last year's salary cap investigations. If it was, no further problem. If the story is true, and we chose not to tell the NRL about it during last year's fiasco, then it will will (and should) be trouble. Same goes for any other shit Seward was involved in if the club knew about it and chose not to disclose.

If the club didn't tell the NRL about this latest revelation in last salary cap investigation we are screwed, and so should the board.

I get that maybe a disgruntled merkin dumped a ream of emails on Nick Tabakoff's desk at the Telecrap and since then he's been releasing a story per email every few days, But now it seems that SMH have emails as well. Who the f**k within our club is doing this ?

Revenge must be sweet you f**king c**k sucker merkin.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...secret-offshore-payments-20160410-go30hd.html

I don't think it's looking good for us,

When I saw the headline, I thought gee we are f**ked now!! Payments to an offshore acc, aren't good!! But then I read the article, of course the eels made had to make payments to an offshore account, Mossop bloody comes from overseas!!! What a bloody click bite headline!!

The media are killing us!!

So we paid Mossop an amount into an offshore account.

Does the article mention we included an amount in our 2015 cap ? No as it wouldn't make the article sound as good:

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...b/news-story/439aec02f046264fa643a79030ec4e2f

It appears payments to Mossop were one of the reasons we were over the cap in 2015, and has already need investigated.

That's not necessarily the case. Just because it was known that we were still paying him some amount, doesn't mean that we disclosed the full amount that we were still paying him....which is what is suggested (sort of) in the SMH article.

And dealt with, and we have a suspended 4 point penalty if we breach this years cap.
Watmough's retirement is going to make that tricky.

Have we any evidence of wrongdoing apart from that?

I feel like there may be no conclusive evidence, but the end result will be "what the heck, the media went bonkers, take 4 points away" :(

This quote from Rumsfeld may help Parra fans understand the situation a little better:

Known unknowns result from phenomena which are recognized, but poorly understood. On the other hand, unknown unknowns are phenomena which cannot be expected because there has been no prior experience or theoretical basis for expecting the phenomena.[7]

Yep, it's another nothing media article. Both papers are now having a go at racking up their clicks with meaningless stories and mis-leading headlines about our club.

I hope the NRL's administration grow some balls at the end of this investigation, and use their findings/lack of points deduction penalty as a way of wresting control of the game's narrative away from these shock jock/sports "journos" who've taken to thinking that they are the ones who dictate terms to the game, rather than the other way around.

Ask Jarryd Hayne...

What, we'll pay him 52k to promote the Eels while overseas (which he did) is the same as wanting to leave and then demanding money?

I know which deal was better for the club.

Keep laying that boot in whenever you get the chance though, must make you sleep well at night I guess......

 I just have to mention Hayne is a post, and people still froth at the mouth 18 months after he's gone....

General point stands though... players seeking to leave their contracts early should be paying us for that privilege, not the other way around (as seems to often be the case). Leaving a contract early heavily restricts the club's ability to have planned squad succession.

I have to admit that I kind of agree here. Although Hayne's case is a little different. This isn't a release payment as such, It's payment to promote the club overseas, which is a good idea, At the time, if you're operating under the assumption that Hayne's going to succeed in the NFL, he's going to generate some interest in the NRL in the U.S. if by no other means than curiosity, so If he's over there promoting the Eels, then it's likely that any curious US fans are more likely to take an interest in Parra over another team. Definitely worth Paying him to promote us, IMO.

But any case where a player asks for an early release should get squat if you ask me, If we pitch them that's a different matter, but if they want to go, then they should get nothing.

We don't know that it was necessarily dealt with in the original judgement against us. We know that some part of his payout was known last year, but not necessarily the later cash payments (if they actually occurred).
