Also....the "comments" in the papers that "there is no suggestion that such and such a player has done anything wrong" is complete bullshit. Every single one of them would have to be informed about who their Third Party Sponsors are. Its their Managers job to tell them if the deal is being done in contravention to any rules. If them and their Manager sign the deals then they're complicit in the whole thing. It wouldn't fly in any other circumstances.

Its farcical to suggest that clubs don't arrange TPAs. Surely the entire NRL hierarcy knows this? This is really the issue that is losing my interest.

So you've got none in other words. Thanks scoop.

Hang on a minute.

You asked me to come up with a source for overspending (outside of TPAs) beyond what we have already been fined for. A few comments/questions:

1. We have been fined multiple times already and are a repeat offender. I don't believe we have the right to get all high and mighty about the media or the NRL.

2. Why just a source for overspending on the cap and not the TPAs? Surely f**king with TPAs is a way of f**king with the cap.

3. By making the qualifying statement 'outside of TPAs', do you accept that we have done something wrong in relation to this?

Yes there has been a lot of posturing and bullshit in the media, but I work very closely with media and know that where there is smoke there is fire.

The commentary from sensible analysts in the media and posters on here suggests we are in deep doo doo. I don't need a 'source' to form the view that they may be on to something.

Irrespective of whether we lose any points or not, based on the weight of evidence and information, I don't see how anyone can sensibly ask "what have we supposedly done wrong?"

Think the point Gary is there has been about 15 articles recently about the magnitude of penalty we will face and maybe half an article with any sort details of an alleged offence.
Also every team has been fined for breaching the cap over the last 5 years, most are repeat offences.

I've noticed that comment in every article. I think it's code for " don't worry fellas, we've got bigger fish to fry. "

I would be surprised if we've broken any salary cap rules either this year or last year. I don't think I've read an article that is even suggesting this.

Outside of arrangements with TPAs Id suggest the club has done f**k all that it hasnt already been punished for.

I'd suggest that if the NRL does try to punish us for things that we've already been punished for (i.e breaching the cap for 2014,2013, etc) that we would actually have an excellent legal case to challenge it on Double Jeopardy type grounds.

I sincerely hope you are right mate.

No one is denying that TPAs are under investigation, that's why.

But we don't know the extent of what we've done wrong or how bad it is, looks like we simply didn't declare (or didn't know about) a relationship between a TPA and a company providing services to the club.

Not exactly watergate if you ask me...

You did, but I still don't think anyone is looking at us for TPA's in 2015 or 2016, except for the Watmough issue.

Anything more than a 4 point penalty I'd just challenge the entire NRL Salary Cap Farce in the courts. The draft was taken to court and defeated, the entire operations of the sport of rugby league in Australia was taken to court through Super League and defeated. I doubt the Salary Cap would be considered legal if challenged... It's easily a restraint of trade.

To be honest we probably should have been given then 4 point penalty in the first place, as we didn't adhere to all the NRL requirements, I believe the NRL just compromised on the requirements. I doubt I will lose sleep if we cop a 4 point penalty. With the football team we've assembled for this year we should be pretty disappointed if they only take 4 points of us and we still miss the Top 8.

The informant that has caused the NRL to reinvestigate is obviously the same person feeding the media. Let me just say any prosecuting authority don't like this type of shit. They tend to question their motivation and don't like being used as a means for their vengeance. The bullshit story about Semi and his father is a prime example of shit being digested with more shit and shit being smeared in the media.

I still think we are a good chance of escaping this without any points being deducted.

I think the rat/s might be doing as you suggest, and the NRL likely resents their hand being forced, but I don't have a great deal of faith in their spine.
