I don't reckon we will lose any points, just looking at the previous salary cap breaches, the main ones were obviously storm / dogs which were clearly designed to cheat the cap.

The other one was the Warriors where they were spent over $1million over cap over two years, I don't think we are in this class.

The roosters were only fined $150k in 2002 and storm $120k in 2004 for failing to incorrectly disclose third party agreements, maybe this is the precedent for the Watmough issue if we have f**ked up there.

The others third party issues from 2014, has not yet been fully determined yet. But it looks like the club were just stupid in documenting the details but time will tell. But in my opinion the NRL will be very careful on how they managed this matter, as they know the third party issue is a "whole can of worms" and if go they hard on the eels it will create a precedent and maybe put media pressure of other clubs. They probably will want to be seen as being tough but not take points . They probably will put pressure on the board to re-sign or place independent directors on the board.

Just my thoughts

All this talk of the board being "Forced" to step down by threat of losing points is ridiculous to me.

Firstly, the NRL cannot force a board to step down, by any means. The current board is the board of the PLC, and the NRL has ZERO control over what they do. If we have breached the cap (or whatever) enough to warrant a loss of points, we will lose points, period. No board member stepping down will stop that from happening.

I personally don't care if they step down or not, obviously if this points ransom nonsense is actually true, then of course they should, I would expect that of anyone, but it's so far-fetched and ridiculous that I don't even entertain it as an option.

They can't forgive a breach big enough to justify docking points by having a few guys resign from a board they were elected to by the clubs members. They just can't. Moreover, they cannot interfere in the running of a business they do not own.

What they COULD do, possibly, is insist that the PNRL board be split from the PLC board, and then maybe ban the current board from serving on an NRL team board forcing us to elect a new board made up of completely new people? Maybe.. but that's a long way to go.. I can't imagine that Greenburg (and the NRL) feel that strongly about the Parra board to go that far.

What I'm saying is that if any points ransom or ultimatum is levied on the Parra board, then something fishy is going on in the NRL front office.

Does anything think DA had a role to play in any wrongdoing? Negotiating the Watmough deal?
As far as I'm concerned the running of the football department of this club has been an absolute shambles since Brian Smith left this club, so IMO they all have to share some of the blame. No doubt some will cop it more then others and they can only Blame Seward for so long.

So many guys on here knock DA. I like the guy. He is well spoken and comes across as professional. He coached us into one of the NRL's most exciting footy team and story. He let go Inu and Mateo and had no real time to build a side.
Is BA a better coach? I think BA is more of a hard task master, and a guy everyone respects and wants to play for. That makes him a better coach. But tactics wise DA was very good. He just did not like to many Islander players and their attitudes. So he was slowly weeding them out.
BA has come in and lets look at his signings -

Gower- De gois- Scott- Watmough-Foran - Gutherson - Cornish- Jennings-Obrien-Moss-Schulte-Hasson - King - Woods - Champion - quinlan - Taka

Tuha and Faraimo a few wenty players :p

I reckon Da & BA has same thoughts into the type of team they want to build.

We are $11 to win the comp. 3rd favourites..... They do not have a wooden spoon bet thou- rather a most losses. If had a wooden spoon market it would be a bit of a guide.

IMHO no club has TPAs that are "clean". As if managers arrange these independent sponsors without the club's involvement. As if "arms length" TPA actually exist.

If we get pinched for 3rd party deals that are not at arms length you can thank the snitcher whistleblowers. If they did not run to the media with their agenda driven tales, we'd be sweet.

Gould publicly has stated the same thing....TPA's should be printed but the NRL want to sell the idea of everyone has the same $ to spend.

On another matter altogether.....Telecrap bashing of Parra continues with the story that Hoppa was not allowed to sit out Sundays....painting us as uncaring and ruthless as opposed to the SNAG bulldogs. Just one more swipe at the Eels.
Must really be worried we might have a team to actually make a dent in this premiership...

It's funny you know, I was talking about this a few days ago, how come we never heard about Hoppa making a request like this while he was at Parra?

I imagine that if he had've made such a request and Parra knocked him back, it'd be all over the Telecrap, or at the very least the rumor mill and grapevine would have gotten a hold of it at some point. Yet I have no memory of him ever asking to not play or train on Sundays...

Ummm, if the salary cap etc is run in the same manner as he runs the junior league, be very careful. Major probs in the management of junior league, a lot of it stems from not listening , do it my way or else, and the appointments he made . Sounds familiar to a coaching career
