Eels star Nathan Hindmarsh says Wests Tigers won't make grand final

HIS side had just been beaten by Wests Tigers in a thriller at Parramatta Stadium but Eels champion Nathan Hindmarsh did not believe the Tigers would reach the grand final.

Hindmarsh was speaking moments after Parramatta's semi-finals aspirations had been all but killed off.

Asked who would win this year's title, Hindmarsh said: "St George Illawarra are up there for a reason.

"The Sydney Roosters on their day ... when they hit their straps.

"They are the two stand-out teams for mine."

Asked why he had not mentioned the Tigers, Hindmarsh said: "Wests Tigers are a quality side. But I was asked who would win it and I gave the answer."

Eels coach Daniel Anderson said his side needed a "miracle" to reach the playoffs.

Parramatta's season has never really clicked into top gear. Last year's grand finalists have always appeared just off the pace. They can still make the finals mathematically, but they really don't deserve to be there.

Hindmarsh was crushed that his side only played entertaining football for the final 20 minutes yesterday - not the full 80 minutes.

"To play for 20 minutes was disappointing," Hindmarsh said.

"They were desperate and they tackled very well. We didn't take our opportunities when we had them.

"We knew our season was on the line."

Hindmarsh said the Eels would have won yesterday if Luke Burt had kicked a penalty goal near fulltime to send the match into golden point.

"The style of footy we were playing and the momentum ... we would have got them in extra time," Hindmarsh said.

On that note why doesn't the headline say that Penrith, Brisbane, Canberra etc won't make the GF as well ?

FFS Ritchie :fist: once again you're making our club look bad. Hindy is not having a go at the W/Tigers, just offering an opinion who will play in the big one !

Man the DT is a joke. . . just posted a comment onto that article and I get a message saying that it may not be published if it contains clear errors of fact... ummm.... they obviously don't live by their own standards.

So he thinks Saints will win the GF.... pretty sure there's nothing in there saying the Tigers won't make it to the GF.

The Tigers bandwagon.... bigger and just as irritating as the Eels one.

"Wests Tigers are a quality side. But I was asked who would win it and I gave the answer."

So where does it say the Tigers won't make the Grand Final?

He reckons the Dragons will win it but no mention of the Tigers not making.

I mean fair dinkum these papers are a joke, they interview these players and get the answers but turn their words around and make them look bad.

To that point, I dont think they make it they were theyve been playing. But its hard to say who will be there and win it.
