Nathan Cayless reaches another milestone in Broncos clash

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels will travel to Brisbane this weekend for a huge clash against the Broncos and will be celebrating a milestone for captain Nathan Cayless.

The club’s longest-serving captain will also become the NRL’s most-capped captain in the history of the competition, breaking Brad Fittler’s record of 216 games as captain.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of a game where Nathan Cayless will write his name into the record books,” said coach Daniel Anderson.

Prop Fuifui Moimoi is clear to play in the game after taking an early guilty plea on a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle Charge.

Back-rower Ben Smith will face the Judiciary this Wednesday to dispute the grading of Grade 2 Dangerous Contact with Kicker charge, and if successful will be free to play this weekend.

“We remain hopeful of a favourable outcome when we contest Ben’s charge,” Anderson said. “We’ll be very happy in the event his downgrading is successful and he’s clear to play.”

Following the Broncos match the entire travelling squad will make an appearance in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall from 10.00am until 11.00am on Saturday July 14 for all of the Eels’ Brisbane-based fans. The team will be signing autographs before flying back to Sydney.

An unchanged line-up.....that's good, means Anderson is keeping faith in his players.

Jacob Loko injured?

No real surprises here. Te Maari is presumably 18th man for Parra, while Ken Sio gets another crack for Wenty.

Lets see how hungry the boys are on Friday. They should damn near be starving, all things considering.

Ben Smith ?

they must be going to defend the charge

Yeah Fui took the early guilty plea while Smith is contesting the charge. If he wins he is free to play, not sure how many weeks he is out if he loses, two?

Why wouldn't he keep the faith? We are up there in 11th position with everyone firing. No need for any changes whatsoever.

I meant he is keeping faith in a bunch of players that have been able to pull it off this season.....I don't know if changing the side will make things better or worse either. It's a massive gamble to change the side in must-win games, and our team has lifted at certain parts of the season, so there's no reason why Anderson can't be allowed to keep faith in essentially the same team that went to a grand final.

How many must win games do you have to lose before you change things?

Honestly we gave it to Hagan about him cut and pasting the team this week seems Ando has still got the same programme on the computer. This is our last chance to salvage our season we had to try something IMO.

That won't be the run on side.

You sure? I.e. will there be 'late changes' aside from Ben Smith (if he is out)?

Also agree with the above poster I guess....if there's a time to try something, now is the time yeah.

I'm all for change - but only to make us better.

NYC are last by so far it isn't funny.
Wenty have the same record as the first grade team.

So who is pushing for inclusion?

Sure, I'd like to play Humble and Mitchell - but I'm not shocked that they aren't being given a go....

Once we lose this one and bow out of contention for the year, I'd like to see O'Hanlon, Loko and Lasalo given a chance.
