over on the official eels site theve got a slide show of the eels training day at merrylands park dated 18/11/03 where they had races pushing volkswagons.

2 things i noitced in the pics was:

1/ cayless still has his arm in plaster, does anyone know hows he going and when it comes off.

2/ dean widders had a morone and white jersey on under his eels training singlet and it looked alot like an eagles jeresy. the question is, is it and if it is whats he doing with an eagles jersy or anything the remotely looks like and eagles jersy on. :?

Sea Eagles training jerseys are going very cheaply, at the moment.

It doesn't really matter what jersey he was wearing, the reason he was wearing something heavy underneath is that he would basically sweat more and shead those infamous punds that we've been talking about.

i tell you waht.. whoever came up with the story about widders being sent home from training for being a porker.. YOU ARE WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!

Dean is looking VERY Fit!!!

I was talking to Hayden Knowles (eels fitness trainer) and he was telling me that Dean didn't put very much excess weight on at all.. He was also saying that Aaron Cannings has surprised him with how well he trains for such a Huge bloke...'

I am in the middle of writing an article for planeteels.com and I will also add a photo gallery to the site...

forgot to mention that you will be able to see video of the day on Channel 9.. I assume it will be on one of the first Footy Show's for 2004 as Hindy was doing interviews throughout the session with the boys for Channel 9...

Good news. Maybe the off-season 8kg loafer was Vella after all? They'd be no surprise there....

I can't help but wonder...

Seeing that Brian SMith has got the boys pushing cars in races for their training (which I think is a great idea; it develops lots of skills) ...

Do you guys think that it means we will start contesting scrums again?

First of all, is it legal to contest scrums in league any more?

Hmm...

But from those pics, I take my hat off to you Mr. SMith. You have the boys committed and training hard. Incidentally, my favourite shot is of Dykesy, Jamie and Cannings all having a good laugh.

Onya boys!

Did anyone else who was flicking through the photos suddenly feel like they were smack bang in the middle of a Volkswagon advertisement??? :?

The EELS logo is also being shaped as the ASICS logo.

So I'm wondering, how much more commercial are we going to get.

Don't get me wrong either, its a good thing at the moment while its not going to far and I always support companies who support the EELS, but the EELS are definately at the forefront of this sort of commercial arrangements and could be a real bad thing in the future.

hey bd, i'd rather the eels raise money through commercial enterprises rather than pokies

Thats true, but where I was concerned with it is...the pokies are never going to apprach the club and say "We will give you x dollars to move your franchise interstate", while a commercial organisation would. It happens regularly in overseas sport and now even in Australia (AFL)

Im bored as hell, and just looking into these things far too much. Realistically if a club was going to move interstate I dont think the EELS would be high on the list of clubs that would go anywhere.

Hurry up 2004 season!, there arent many decent league articles around.

While they were in Wollongong, they should have pushed the VW's up Mount Ousley!
Now that would be training! :p

Denlo are an Eels Sponsor so it would make sense that the Eels utilise their sponsorhip arrangement with them... it sure makes a big difference to 10km road runs... if you guys had of seen how tired the players were afterwards then you too would be understanding of how good the exercise was.. the training finished about 11.30am then they headed straight to Castle Hill RSL so they could do some Gym Work..

ALSO IN RELATION TO DEAN WIDDERS!!!!

I have been reliably informed that the jersey he was wearing under his Training Shirt was actually Nathan Hindmarsh's Robbo Spuddies Jersey!!
