Please, we were winning 1st half with these 2nd rate halves, watch the game again and tell me where it was that our halves let us down. To me, it was more the fact we spent the entire 2nd half nailed down on our own goal line. Since you probably 'play' the game, i'll ask you this: The whole team just spent an entire 8-10 sets defending including yourself, presumably the halfback. Everyone is out of fuel, what do you do? Don't say you'd pull off miracle passes and kicks, thats not going to happen no matter which halves combo you get. I thought getting halves would be a priority, from tonight, fixing the team attitude in general would be a better option before we think about getting new players.
Yeah ... the Titans' kicking didn't have anything to do with the field position situation, huh?
1. Forwards have to lay a platform.
2. Halves have to capitalise and create. As well as control the game with the boot.
3. Backs have to finish opportunities.
In the first half, we did 1., Hayne did 2. with a little support from Mortimer, and 3. wasn't a big problem.
In the second half, the Titans' kicking game did a lot to nullify our forwards and our halves couldn't kick us out of trouble.
At any rate we have a major problem with 2. You have to expect some of the better packs in the competition will get over the top of us occasionally ... but it's crazy that we can win the forward battle and still struggle.
We are the new Cronulla (thankfully Cronulla is still the old Cronulla ... and a few other clubs are somehow even bigger basket cases than us). We will continue to be mediocre unless something changes.
