The french are after El Magic

French want El Masri
June 29, 2004

THE French Rugby Federation has offered Bulldogs winger Hazem El Masri a four-year, $2 million deal in another stunning raid on the NRL.

El Masri's manager Adam Houda met with the FFR's Pierre Vandome in Sydney yesterday where the massive deal was tabled.

El Masri is considering the deal because, quite simply, it is much more than an NRL club is likely to pay.

Im sure he'd be one of the best wingers in France and obviously the best kicker but htey are offering him $2 million in four years!! How does France even have that sort of cash to throw at players, is league popular over their?

League is on the up too. UTC enters the ESL in 2006.

We're no chance at El Masri now. France has a massive Lebanese community as well, and of course nobody will match the money. Unless he loves Australia and League that much, he'll go.

No it doesn't.

I'd be interested in seeing him reunited with Vagana (as long as Noddy learns to pass that way occasionally) for $200k or thereabouts. Couldn't blame him for taking the French money though - it would set him and his family up for life and there's no way he'd get that in league. Assuming it is true and not another manager beat-up of course.

Phil?

There's been an addition to the Moriarty household - the ref-slagging baton has been passed on. So I've been otherwise occupied. Now I'm back to bludging in the office full-time.

Excellent news on all accounts!
So what are the stats?

Entered the world at 3.6kg but at the rate he's feeding, I think we're looking more at a prop forward than a nippy winger.

Ah, I really only do that when jointly encouraged by Messrs VB and BTR. But Moriarty Jnr is causing enough earache on his own already - and that was just watching Souths and Dragons the other day.

Lynnot.

You know, the guy in your avatar.
Does anybody here have any Irish in them?
Would any of the young ladies here like to have a bit more Irish in them?

Ah - now I understand. This new parent thing confuses the mind on occasion.

I once knew someone who claimed to use that chat-up line. Swore it worked for him once as well. Poor girl can't have been too bright.

Well I'm glad you said "he's feeding" because I was still unsure if it was a he or a she.
Any obvious skills at this stage? Probably a bit early for ball skills.

Well, he's mastered the eating, drinking, shouting loudly and wetting himself, so obviously has all the off-field skills to be a first-grader (hasn't been for the mobile phone yet, I must admit).
