Embarrassment

Answer to you final poin = poor coaching. Simple.

Exactly. I had to say it as it makes me feel sick, but just look at what Daniel Anderson has done with the Eels since his time there. At the beginning of the year, they were in shambles. Now look at them. He has cleaned out the dead wood, moved players to their most suitable positions and has them playing with confidence.

I can only wonder what would have happened if we had sacked Elliot last season and hired Anderson...

Aside from our halves and Sammut, we have some great players at our disposal. Potentially the best back row in the comp.

I don't know why Romelo didn't get the call up to FG when Aiton signed with Sharks????

JTK left out at Windsor most of the season and then not re-signed??????

Some great young front rowers at the club: Grant, McKendry, Pearn and Blackett. Hardly get a look in while plodders like Woolnough, Puletua and Bell just get picked week in, week out???????

Mid field bombs with no chasers????????

Stupid predictable inside balls???????

Jennings never sees the ball in attack unless he gets into dummy half???????

WE RECRUIT NO PLAYERS??????????

I think it's time to go back to

6. Lewis
7. Sammut

We won 4 in a row with Graham/Walsh but after that with those halves we were just kidding ourselves.

I'd like to think these chokes are just down to a young side but realistically we have a rubbish coach, rubbish administration and we'll likely waste one of the best generations of juniors we've ever had as a 7th-12th team.

Thread title is all that needs to be said.

Before the Saints match I read a stat in the paper that said we were one win from the last fifteen friday games.

Didn't bother checking if it's true, but we'd be one from seventeen now. So it's not just the really important matches

where we choke, it's just about any highlighted match.

The more I think about it, the more I think we only beat sides who don't show up to play. If they come ready, they win.

I've noticed this for some time now.

Its been so apparent over the last two years. Penrith can jag out enough wins to contend for the 8, but when teams like the Eels and Broncos start to hit a purple patch, we are an easy pushover for them because we do not play at a level that can beat good in form teams. Funnily enough in 2007 we came last but we beat Bulldogs twice and Manly 1st- who were finals teams. We were just so awful against all the other struggling clubs. Nowadays we beat the lesser lights reguarly but get embarassed by the good sides, because the team do not play with the intensity required or the concentration and has no coherent game plan because Elliot is so limited in his ideas. We also lack the physical conditioning for the big games, and have too many players who get smashed in one on one tackles (Sammut, Cooper etc). We are an ordinary, ordinary team so really we've done ok to come in the top ten without Petero, who may have helped us get closer but not allowed us to win. We all know part of the solution but we know it won't be carried out. They hired Elliot over a phone call and sacked Lang without even giving him the courtesy of one, the club seems content with mediocrity.

There is a simple answer to our woes of the last couple of weeks, which mirrors our demise in 2008 we simply do not have a good enough squad.

We simply do not have the quality or depth accross the paddock to compete with the best sides. Throw in the loss of our best forward in Petro and it is not surprising we have finished on a sad note.

No one should be surprised.

I have been saying for some time we lack quality and depth in a number of key positions. True competition for places which frankly we do not have. One or two injuries, a few players missing thru rep duties and there is no one of quality to step up. This is a fact.

It is all the more astonishing considering how poorly we have performed in the NSW Cup, Toyota Cup and junior rep sides that we have not been more active in terms of trying to acquire one or two quality players to our playing roster.

I am not going to criticise individuals as that is not my go, but clearly we are deficient in one or two areas and if the club and management do not recognise that fact then there is no way we are going to address the problems and improve.

Had Petro been fit and available in the run in to the semi's I have no doubt we would have made the eight. We may still have been cannon fodder although I think we would not have been beaten so soundly as we have been without him.

Losing the games best front rower was a massive loss and a massive blow to our chances this season.

How do we go from winning Flegg, Ball and Matts a few years ago, to having nothing?

Why can Parramatta recruit a Mortimer into the halves, yet our only notable signing since the 80's is a 31 year old front rower.

One has to question why we beat ourselves up year after year.

Elliot and management must go. I will not go to any games while the club is full of incompetent losers!

I read this morning where Penrith are close to signing George Ndaira (another reject from Newcastle) who is currently playing for Kurri in the local Newcastle competition. BTW Blair has re-signed for another year.
Mick Leary needs to be SACKED for re-signing Elliot, I remember Mark Levy
was sacked for re-signing Royce Simmons. So the board should sack Leary.

Honestly. At least you guys had a crack at it when the season was on. Sure the panthers faded this season, but its harder to try and play well every week than it is for certain clubs who do nothing all season then win 6 on the trot under no pressure at all and claim a semi final position. I think both the Knights and the Panthers can be proud of the fact that they stood up early in the season and attempted to play well every week. Its sad to me that both clubs didnt make the semis.

Oh the pain...the pain!

After last weeks effort,a result like this was more a probability than us jagging a spot into the finals.

At least we have been put out of our misery.

As I have said before... only Penrith could play themselves out of finals footy. I'm sick of Matt Elliott. I want a new coach. I'm sick of Mick Leary. I want a new CEO. That's all folks. :(
