maybe the light deteriorated in that over
and really australia only have themselves to blame for accepting the light on the 2nd day
because now they will have to offer england the light when its as bad as the 2nd day

People are saying how much the Aussies are whingeing. Vaughan did more whingeing than anyone when he was out there last night...trying every trick in the book to get the umpires to offer them the light. Bloody whinger.

I agree they shouldn't have taken the light, but that has nothing to do with when they will offer england bad light.

When the umpires offered the bad light to Australia on day 2, they would have taken a reading. And whether australia took the light or not is irrelevant.

England would be offered the light at that same reading.

Well if he hadn't have whinged like he did he should have been sacked. His job is to do everything he can within the rules of the game to regain the Ashes.

And he's done exactly that. The Aussies would have done exactly the same.

Exactly. No one here should be criticising Vaughan he has done an excellent job for his country.

We should be asking the ICC and umpires why play was stopped and what rule in the rule book was used. Then I will be happy.

Exactly Right Tommy. Any right minded captain would of done exactly the same thing. Bloody hell some of our fans in this forum are whingers. Umpires, Bad light, injuries. England have played much better cricket.

All that stands between them deservedly regaining the Ashes is one final Shane Warne miricle tonight...

The Aussies have not acted like Vaughan did in South Africa where he was fined 100% of his match fee.

Vaughan fined match fee for umpire outburst

JOHANNESBURG: England captain Michael Vaughan has been fined his entire match fee for comments made about the umpires in the third Test against South Africa, match referee Clive Lloyd confirmed on Saturday.

Vaughan was unhappy with the decision of umpires Steve Bucknor and Aleem Dar to end the second day’s play on Friday 13 overs early because of bad light. “We felt we were batting in differing conditions when we came off earlier in the day,” Vaughan told reporters. “We would still like to be out there batting. “All I ask for is consistency, and we don’t think the decisions have been made with consistency today.”

Lloyd charged Vaughan under sections of the International Cricket Council’s code of conduct relating to the “showing of serious dissent at an umpire’s decision” and for criticising an umpire’s decision in public. “As the captain, Michael Vaughan should be aware of his duties and the rules under which he is playing. It is a serious offence to make such comments about the match officials,” Lloyd said in a statement.

Vaughan was summoned to a hearing after play on Saturday. His match fee is believed to be $10,300. Under ICC rules Vaughan could have been banned for a Test but Lloyd opted for the fine. reuters

Imagine the whining you'd do if Ponting carried on like that

Australia need to bowl England out very quickly, and then get the runs. Maybe restrict them to 180 max. They have said the weather will be fine today so they should get a full day's play in.

I wouldn't put it past warnie to clean them up. The ball isn't too old so hopefully Glen Mcgrath can pull something off too.

If we don't have 4-5 wickets by lunch I'm going to bed though.

Never put anything past McGrath. Surely destiny isn't for Warne and McGrath not to have the prized Ashes. If anything destiny has brought them here where they can pull of one last miracle.

Gilchrist makes a miracle catch on Vaughan. Good ball by McGrath.

Next ball McGrath gets Bell out in the slips. On a hat trick.

Is this the comeback?

If they're less than 5 down by lunch, call it over I think.

For once, it's time for the Aussies to stand up and be counted, something they haven't had to do in a test for a long time.

Hayden dropped one at slips. To be fair it deflected off Gilchrist.

Warne is bowling magnificent, hitting the footpatches.
