Mal was on ABC Radio this afternoon. Matthew Elliot suggested the idea of a Pacific Nations team to compete with Australia and New Zealand. Mal agreed and said the Pacific Test Weekend should be used as a selection trial for an end of year Pacific Nations team. Just awful.

You f**king watch by 2020 we'll have halved the number of competitive nations because they've smooshed them all back into Great Britain and the Pacific Islands just so Australia has someone to beat by slightly less than before.

I wasn't saying we should pick him if he can't.
Having a ban effectively makes him ineligible for section.

You asked if the game counted towards his ban,you where told it would if he was selected...But why would he be selected if he couldn't play?

If this was a 4nations or world cup and he had a game or two left on his ban then yeah it makes sense to pick him cos he'll be free to play the later games...

But this is a single game and it's pointless picking him

I haven't much issue with Heighinton he's already been selected and actually has a British passport. It's bullshit but as he can't actually play for oz you can't deny him repping for the side he committed to a long time ago.
McQueen is total bullshit though.

Well thats a fair comment. I can only imagine SL clubs put pressure on the RFL use as many Aussie bases players as possible.
Why the NRL and RFL couldnt work together and plan a club game free weekend is beyond me.
If it meant giving Sky the rights to the game I can't imagine they would have been against it.

I believe they scrapped that rule to allow islanders to play for their parents nation without losing the chance of playing origin.
