It seems like we have three different play off systems for three divisions. Only RL could c**k something so simple up. 'spud should be saving for his 2016 Championship season pass not being disappointed because he can't make a play off match. Finish top and you get automatic promotion. The next five should play off for the second promotion spot.

Absolutely. Imo they just need to have the same system as the football league which generates plenty of attention and drama in itself. Just do the obvious thing and give first place auto promotion and then 2nd to 5th in a simple semi final then final format. To be honest unless they properly fund the championship the super 8s will be a pointless exercise long term so just have the same promotion system into super league.

Now thats daft...

They should spend the money developing the canadian comp...and look at having a "north american challenge cup" with the clubs in the USARL.

Yeah it is ok to think big.........just need to do the small things first !

Not a great fan of every country needing a playing link of some level into either Australia or England (hence not a fan of the PNG NRL bid.....but must admit i do like the Hunters in the QLD Comp :D).

oh really? That would have made sense, but this article on the official website leads me to believe there's still another match to be played before the GF:

ROCHDALE MAYFIELD moved to within 80 minutes of a place in the Grand Final with a stunning 54-4 play-off win over HULL DOCKERS.

The hosts started strongly with centre Dave Wood crossing for a brace inside the opening 15 minutes before hooker Todd O?Brien stretched the lead further, although the Dockers did give themselves some hope when winger Dave Palmer raced over just after the half-hour mark.

With the first half drawing to a close Mayfield posted further tries from winger Declan Sheridan and full-back Lewis Sheridan to go in 26-4 up at the break.

The visitors defence held out until just before the hour-mark when a scoring burst from the home side sealed the win.

Sub Nick Hargreaves, Lewis Sheridan, second-rower Liam Whalley, winger Rob Kershaw and stand-off Paul Brierley ? the man-of-the-match ? all touched down, with scrum-half Sam Butterworth completing a seven-goal haul.

WATH BROW HORNETS are the side that stand in Mayfield?s way after the Cumbrian outfit battled their way past WIGAN ST PATRICKS 34-18.

Scott Pink capped a great display with a hat-trick, whilst fellow centre Karl Dixon almost matched his efforts with a brace for the Hornets.

Prop Lewis McCarron crashed over for a crucial try in the first half, whilst the goal-kicking of scrum-half Cole Walker-Taylor (4) and hooker Dean Rooney played an important role.

The home side actually took an early lead when hooker Marlon Alker went over after just three minutes, and St Pats were still in with a chance at half-time as the trailed just 14-12.

However, it was not to be despite closing their season with further touchdowns from sub Connor Taylor and scrum-half Joe Higham. Winger Dan Birkett added a couple of conversions.

PREMIER DIVISION ? ELIMINATION PLAY-OFFS
Saturday October 17
Rochdale Mayfield 54 v 4 Hull Dockers
Wigan St Patricks 18 v 34 Wath Brow Hornets

So Rochdale Mayfield vs Wath Brow, to play who in the GF? Anyone know?

Interesting that St Helens is setting up a reserve grade team

I think there are 6-8 clubs from super league doing it this year i beleive. Hull fc being one other i can think of but would be guessing at the rest.

Going to be an i teresting year with toulouse playing in league one, i hope to god they go up at the first attempt and then agaim from championship to super league. Having an important commercial and industrial centre like toulouse in super league will drive up interest and investment in french league i hope. Catalans have done very well but it takea a second team to take the professional footprint and pathways to the next level.

I can see Toulouse going up in their first season. I think they'll then spend a good 3 seasons or so in the Championship before really (hopefully challenging for promotion). Which might be a good thing, as their stadium is nowhere near meeting SL criteria (I honestly wonder if it meets Championship criteria).

Championship is a very competitive league, it will not be easy for them. Plus they do not (yet) have the depth of some of those English clubs like Leigh, Bradford etc.... As we've seen now with their feeder team Toulouse Broncos, who now play in Elite 1. They've copped some floggings already.

Anyway, for anyone interested, I did a bit more digging around and found out what the remaining two conference league matches are:

Wath Brow vs Rochdale Mayfield
Leigh Miners Rangers vs Siddal

The two winners will meet next weekend in the Final @ Widnes.

I made a mistake in my earlier post. Tomorrow it's:

Leigh Miners Rangers vs Rochdale Mayfield.

The winner will meet Siddal in the GF next weekend!
