Terrible, no excuse, we were made of alot sturdier stuff when I was up there, than the namby pamby locals that call themselves supporters today.
For f**ks sake it wasnt even raining, I stood shoulder to shoulder with 30, 000 supporters against the Broncos 14 years ago in the pouring rain, another close one we lost, but the novacastrians of 2004?? Gutless.
Good on you the ones that went and supported, but the rest that could have made it, can hand in their knights jerseys and go watch a safe out of the nasty cold wind indoor sport, like basketball, no excuse, your just a pathetic bunch of stay at home milo sipping wusses.

I was at home sipping my cafe latte. I mean, fair dinkum, who'd pay good money to sit in the freezin cold eating shitty food that you have to line up ten minutes for just to see your team get beaten again.

Plus ARC round three was on. SRTA took out Codys engine, replaced a piston and head and put it all back in within 2 hours. God those kiwis can do miraculous things.

I would. People who don't support there team at every opportunity they get are called fairweather fans.

And whats this about "just to see your team get beaten again"? Don't be an idiot. What sort of supporter are you?

Hey Termi, nice dig. Agree with you in principal but it was freakin' cold. I've been to the snow every year since I was 5 (23yrs) and rarely have I been as cold as I was today.

I wore my jeans, long 't',short 't', jumper, wooly jacket plus a burke wet weather jacket( the type they wear in the Sydney to Hobart) and I was still shivering.

One of the blokes I was with went for a wiz and had to give it away cause he couldn't find his tackle. He assured me that he had not had this problem before.

To everyone who was at the footy. Good stuff. To everyone else who opted for staying at home. I sure as hell can't blame you. :)

Come on Sweeper, scared of a little wind, jeez they dont make em like they used too, I support the Knights down here and I have stood up in gale force winds with the rain hitting me side on like icy bullets with bulldogs supporters(you know the ones I mean) baying for my blood while I roared my team on, sorry but the fantastic crowds up at Newcastle are a product of a bygone era, people made up of the real stuff, the latest bunch(not counting the faithfull, who made the effort,) are a pack of comfort seeking pansys, who quite frankly, dont cut the mustard anymore.

Hey termi, which I must say is a sig that obviously represents your fearless nature. The names Snapper. Not that I really give a sh#t, but you weren't there, I was. For starters, it's an expensive day out. I can watch the game on tele, save myself around $80 and not catch the flu. Sounds like the smart option but I went anyway.

what was the offical number?
the non-alcohol hill was fairly empty but i guess families with younger children mightnt have wanted to come
but still to the people from newcaslte who didnt bother to go because it was cold, i drove 3 hours to go to the game and i sat out in the freezing wind. and i would do it all again.

btw IanG i saw you walking around the front of the stadium before the game, and i also saw melliez and i think Kaz  its wierd seeing people from the forum at games.

The offical attendance was just over 11,000.

I was there... it was a great day. I didn't care that it was frezzing, I hate the cold with avengance and I still toughed it out.
I have only missed 2 games this yr and it was not by my choose... well I felt it not right to go home for Mother's day (Bulldogs game) and I was told to go home and watch my brother get his trainee award (Parra)
That's all that would ever stop me from seeing the footy.... not the bloody weather.

I hear ya' I hated that weather but it didn't stop me going. My aunt wondered if they'd still play. Too bloody right they would. The only game I've missed this year was the Parramatta game cuz I had my dental work that day before and was still saw from that. On Mother's Day I didn't get in 'til 2:30 but still went.

I get my pies at the shop over the road. Food Prices there are a joke. Simple as that.

johns-all-day, legallyblonde and i are coming down for the tigers game, i think. from brisbane. not too cheap either. i'd love to be able to go to more games. the weather is a minor technacality, unless u have kids then i can understand. it's so expensive up here to go to a game. if i was a broncs supporter then i wouldn't mind. buggered if i'm going to pay those prices to watch another team play. you guys are so lucky to live in the same town (or near enough) to the team you follow.

did anyone see the union last night. bloody hell, i don't think another person could have been squeezed in. far worse conditions then what was down your way. pissing down with rain the whole match. a bit of snow earlier i was told. shit talk about passionate supporteres

I had the thermals (t & long johns) under my jeans & t-shirt, jumper, wooly jacket & trusty all weather jacket. I also had a bit of plastic to keep the rain off my knees. It was my beanie & gloves that did the job for me. My all weather jacket zips up under my chin & keeps the cold out. I was actually too hot when the sun came out after the first try. (but I knew it wouldn't last).

I had the whole bloody row to myself in the eastern stand. I can't blame any one for not being there since it was on free to air locally. I was very happy with those that did show though.
Plenty of heart & commitment. :)

Stevo -- how are you guys getting there? I'm looking at swapping work for that weekend to be there too and will be going down if I can manage it.

Would have loved to have been there. It would have been warmer there than here (Canberra).

Went to see the Knights at Canberra Stadium in August. Minus six degrees with wind, rain, sleet. We lost, but don't think they were even able to feel the ball half the time. All I can remember of the game is seeing BK run out and thinking, "someone get that man a beanie!"

We got up to Newcastle in June and everyone was shivering in about 12 degrees. We just wore our sweaters and carried our coats. You people don't know what cold is! the guys lost against Parra that night. Beginning to feel like a jinx!
