i think you are on crack. hayne was being groomed for the fullback role since 04/05. he played pretty much all his junior football there. it's probably the biggest reason why the club wouldn't offer wade a contract extension of more than two years.

geez..and I thought it was Burts fault that Wade wasn't re-signed. :sarcasm:

thanks for clearing that up Dan..;-)

Just caught this:
nup..nothing wrong with him at all. he's only worth half our cap, he can do as he pleases and if he doesn't like it he can cry to the media and get his own way.

That about sums it up doesn't it?! I wonder if he knows/cares that thats people's perception of him (Whether it be true or not)

The why did they bother giving him half a season at centre with much fanfare then?

If Hayne played most of his junior footy there, I'd expect him to be a lot more confident in defence and in directing the team from the back... He's still not caught up to Wade in those regards. And I wouldn't be surprised not to see him at fullback this season either?

I think it was Hagans call, to get him closer to the action which was a good idea at the time, however when things went sour and Hayne's little comment on how he felt wnet to print then that's where Hage's should of showed some Authority instead of bowing to preasure.

Let's face it, the kid is extremely talented, he's been nurtured tremedously at our club and is probably our best local junior for a number of years, he SHOULD! be in our number 1 jersey and he SHOULD! be playing to the level of Slater, Stewart and Hunt are..I'm hopeful under DA he can do that this year but I'm definitely not putting my house on it, but as a marquee player he along with Caylo, Hindy, Feleti and INU must stay on the park and perform week in week if we're to go within cooee of the top 8.

:Doh yeah and luke burt too. also, and i don't have any tangible evidence, but i think burt was somehow involved in the kennedy assasination and disappearance of harold holt.

are you kidding? it took Wade a few years at fullback to adjust to fullback, he was ran out of South Sydney and he played his junior football at fullback.

Adapting to NRL fullback is different to junior grades.

Burt cannot even adapt to firstgrade period!

in fairness to wade he did have craig coleman's influence on his playing career.

i thought wade did well to get to where he did after coleman labled him "as good as darren lockyer". much the same as he called willie peters "the next peter sterling" he put the kiss of death on wade's ability.

SO do you guys think that we were wrong spending so much dosh on Hayne and Inu coz at that time they were both superstar WINGERS.

Would it have been more prudent to have kept:

1. Wade or played Reddy/Burt at 1.
either Inu or Hayne and the rest to bolster up our pack?

Hayne or Inu's money could've tempted Price or Petero over.

Or when big roy comes off contract?

Could be. We haven`t got long to find out - we`ll know by half-way through the season, I reckon. My feeling is that Inu will have a great year; I`m not so sure about Hayne. I think Inu is the better player. I`d love to see them both on the wing and have Smith and someone else in the centres. That someone else may have to be bought. (And Reddy at fullback.)

According to One Eyed Eel it is more than just a floating experiment having Hayne at 5/8. He reckons KK will be given time to develop and Hayne will start at 6.

Also tipping KK to start at 9 and MK on the bench, with BS to be considered solely as a centre.

Like the sound of a lot of that TBH.

I am not sure Kris is ready to start in the halves at this stage, especially with Finch as his partner.

Matt I felt lost form as he was asked to play more game time and wasn't as slick or penetrating. Depending on the influence of the second referee, it may be that ruck speed increases a little or a lot this season.

Moving Hayne to 5/8 is not the right move imo, Burt maybe more suited for the role, lets just wait and see the trials and where he plays and if he performs in that position.

God love Hayne, not affraid to play anywhere, Burt on the otherhand whinge whinge whinge..

Kris could provide that Nippiness from dummy half ala PJ. He seems quicker and livier than Matt.

However, would he be ok defending as a hooker?

nope. i think both inu and hayne have more talent than most of the young backs coming through.

the club, i think, should be looking at buying dave taylor from the broncos. the bloke is off contract at the end of this year.

can't see taylor leaving the bonkos unless they don't give him a decent crack. and i can't see him not getting a crack this year as they are alot weaker up front. but i've been wrong before
