Most likely not.

But Manly's pack wasn't exactly stellar - Williamson is the height of average. But they had Beaver, Glenn and Watmough to cover.

Our entire pack doesn't need to be superstars, specially not the back row - we have Hindy and Mats, and one average fill in would be sufficient.

come on Eele..those 3 blokes are now super stars and Beaver's always held legendary status in the game.

Average at best..

I wouldn't renew any of their contracts and i dare say they wouldn't get many offers else where.

I thought Gulavao was hard done by last year everytime he played he looked good but Hagan kept picking Lowrie.

Cordoba i think is to small he wont let anyone down but he barely breaks the line or throws a offload. Moi Moi is the best Prop we have to bad he can only last ten minutes

Lowrie is just Awful.

It was actually Williamson doing the covering. Every gap, every half break, he was there to shut down. One of my favorite all time players, his work always went unnoticed.

I agree, mate. But that's sort of my point:

* Glenn Stewart kind of rose out of nowhere through great coaching to become a fine forward

* Watmough (who, I must admit is neither here nor there with me, personally) did something similar.

And Beaver is...Well, Beaver.

But their back row for a while was comprised of the most average of the average (BK excluded). But they developed it, eventually, into a Premiership pack.

We could go down a similar road - get Horo or a young unknown quantity to fill in the vacant number 12, groom him and we could see results.

you're a bit harsh on Lowrie, he's definitely no superstar but better than alot of people make out. he's the reason why we're holding on to the Jack Gibson shield.

well our best bet is a Horo, Baumann, Marty Lewis or Brod Wright to really step up, no doubt...but in terms of the players you mentioned, you'll get nothing more out of from the rest of their careers other than good honest players.

josh was a real dissapointment for me last year and i think this will be a make a break year for him. he needs to prove to everyone that he can match it consistantly with the big boys week in week out.

I reckon Josh may find a home in the back row. He's got a good offload, is fairly fit and pretty aggressive (if not to big a lad). Maybe he could fill in our number 12?

I tell you, I'd love to see one Michael Crocker wearing our number 12, though haha.

geez some people are harsh (and dreaming). eric grothe, by his own admission was ordinary last year. no-one is arguing that but he has played a few good seasons for us. when he's fit and confident there is no better winger at our club at the moment.

Lets be honest, the players had awful years due to a disinterested coach.

Josh , let it be known that he cruised last year, due to no pressure from the coaching staff, I was talking to some A league players he knows and that was the case.

Eric responds to hard nose coaching as I would expect do a lot of players, DA has a stance of being very hard nosed and I would expect most of them to stand up or be shipped out. My understanding is that he addressed them in that manner, and has told people in the know that it took him until the iddle of January to get an expected level of fitness that he needs from the squad.

We shouldn't expect a stellar year this year, but it should be the first step on probably a 3 year road to recovery, JT hit the nail on the head last year.

Josh has shown me glimpses of potential.

Sometimes, he accelerates as he hits the line with good tough hitouts.

However, he doesn't produce this regularly enough.

Our guys needs to give 100% with every hitup. That's why Petero is so good. Every hitup is with quality.

Josh has been the fringe prop for a few years now and has not improved. I guess 2 years in the darkness with Hages has not helped. Hopefully, Ando can change him.

cordoba has gotten worse not better since he first came into first grade
Yeah but after 2 years of Hages, who has improved?

Tim Smith?
Kris Inu?
Jarryd Hayne?
Luke Burt?
Grothe?
Huaraki?
Paulo?

Those 2 years should be wiped off our history.
