ESL Players...hmm...let me have some fun with this...
Stuart Fielden is the ideal replacement for big Jason Cayless next year, both very similar (& brilliant) forwards, reliable in go-forward & defence. Ryan Bailey would be preferred if Fielden is unavailable (but from what I heard he gives away more penalties than Crocker the Shocker). Keith Senior and/or Brian Carney would be useful, but Soliola & Cross are both great, maybe Monaghan and/or Roberts out? Cunningham is brilliant from dummy-half, & might pip Heath L'Estrange for a starting spot (Stranger's not a benchie anymore). Paul Sculthorpe could play lock-forward in place of Ricko, forcing Ash Harrison to bench. Having both Shontayne Hape (replacing Crocker) & Chris Flannery on the bench would be brilliant utility value, along with Wing & Ash. Wellens is a brilliant player no doubt, & might even pip Radlinski as England's premier fullback, but he is the last thing the Roosters need...ANOTHER safe player. We need ATTACKING backs (i.e. Carney, Senior, & possibly Hape), & Minichello would pip Wellens. Lyon, Vainikolo & Lauiti'iti are out of most teams leagues, including Roosters, but they are all still genuine stars.
