I thought it was the Olympique Marseille ultras.?

Btw, Giroud's goal! He clearly took out the goalie's arms when scoring, unlucky for Romania. Second goal was pure class though.

Turned out a local gang started it... And gee'd up the poms

I guess it all depends on what you read.

Read a few separate articles and a few from English fans/journalist and they are reporting the English aren't as innocent as locals and Russians just turning up and inciting violence...

But without being there who knows.

What a load of dickheads the fans are. It is impossible to say what has caused it though as theres plenty of different reports.
Many convicted hooligans have their passports seized when England are playing abroad so its not as if measures are not taken to try and prevent it. My mates father in law leaves his at the police station as its easier than having to surrender it every time.

it was Russian ultras and Marsellie ultras provoking the English fans

PSG Ultras traveled down to Marsellie to help out the English fans

After seeing this video, I'm convinced the Russians are to blame (at least in this instance they are). You can see they're moving in as an organised, almost purpose trained squad, whereas the English are just there having their beers as they do, and of course are forced to react when attacked. This is getting pretty bad I wonder if French authorities will step up the security.

The Russian FA has been charged after the incident in the ground. I don't think UEFA are prepared to act on what's going on outside as it's not clear what's the actual root cause.
I have no doubt there's some English fans happy to cause trouble but it's certainly not the culture in English football like it was in the 80s or still is in some parts of Europe. If other groups of people start an issue or the police are indiscriminately firing CS gas in the crowds then your going to get a reaction from a group of pissed up blokes.

I'm still shaking my head at England not winning that game, they should have won by many but untrue England style they f**ked it up.

Wales were fun to watch, skrtel made a right merkin of himself in that game though

We've got Payet (enough said) :)

Watching it last night it was a great goal, Croatia missed a lot opportunities the score should have been at least 5-0....
Yeah they hit the post a few times, it was just unlucky more than anything. I reckon they'll go pretty far, they're looking good!

Just read that Darijo Srna's father died during the Turkey match and he found out straight after full time. He's gone back to Croatia, they don't know if he'll be back.

I generally enjoy this tournament but what a disaster of a format this year. Having 16 of 24 teams qualify for the next round is ridiculous, you can potentially not win a game and go through as one of the 4 (of 6) best 3rd placed finishers.

If they want to expand it for money reasons just go the full hog and have 32 teams and mimic the world cup format.

I know right. There's some right bed wetters on Facebook talking about how England won't make the next round already. Besides the fans getting us kicked out its got to be almost a sure thing that we progress under this format.
