The Rams could make a comeback but I doubt it.

We have a hunch that it'll be a bird mascot as with most South Australian sporting teams.
Maybe, but it almost certainly won't be one of those birds.

My advice would be to be unique, forge your own path, and avoid copying others or following on from a theme. Find something unique and/or interesting about Adelaide/SA and build from there. Think laterally.

You're the city of churches, so maybe a religious theme. South Australia and Adelaide is famous for how many ship graveyards and shipwrecks it has about the place, so maybe tie into that in some way with a ghost or treasure hunters theme. Sea lions are abundant in South Australia and around Adelaide. The giant cuttlefish migration goes through there. There're fairy penguin colonies in South Australia and Adelaide.

There's plenty of potential.

There're angels in Islam, it's an Abrahamic religion.

The archangel Gabriel was the messenger that gave Muhammad his revelation.
Yes, i forgot about that, not sure what i was thinking..
Either way, Archangels is unique to the sporting codes here in Aus

Sure it's unique, but it also lacks any subtly whatsoever.

I'd go with a more neutral and traditional name if I was going to go with an angel theme. Call them something really simple and old school like Adelaide RLFC, then pick one of the famous angels to be represented in the logo.

Which angel I'd go with would depend on what I wanted the feel of the club to be. Personally I'd be highly tempted to go with Azrael as it'd have a bit more edge to it, and the NRL is in desperate need of a bit of cynicism and honesty at the moment. But I imagine that isn't really what you had in mind though.

Or just have a halo or wings as the logo, keep it simple without naming a certain an exact angel

In picking a specific angel to represent your club you'd be saying that your club values the virtues that that angel represents within the religious traditions, and that's significantly more interesting from a cultural and branding standpoint than just slapping simplistic imagery of angels onto a logo to sell a product.

BTW, I didn't say anything about naming the angel. I'd use their image but keep their name out of it as much as possible. That way it's implicit, not explicit, and holds a higher meaning to those in the know.
