How awesome would it be if we had 2 Nth Qld Teams - Cairns and Townsville lol. That would spell havoc up North :D

I dont think there is enough peope up there

The NQ CEO recently said in an interview that a large proportion of his fans travel over an hour to get to the games

No I'm not saying it will happen anytime soon, but further down the track as the area grows in population it will be cool. But yeah you're right, it's so rural and takes fans a long time to get there. I think the game should only expand in that area when the populace expands.

ok no worries - I misunderstood.

I agree in the long term it would be good. The NBL had a Cairns and a Townsville team.

In the short term we really need to go to perth and adelaide to increase sponsorship, tv rev etc etc

lol, half of Les Catalans don't speak English and most of the Toulouse team don't either, still doesn't stop them playing in English competitions.

That's the last thing the PNG bid needs to worry about.

Might be the first thing when Gallop picks up the phone and realises he doesnt speak pigion.

Either way, there are many cultural, economic and social barriers that need to be removed for the PNG bid to have any realistic chance.
