Experimental dead rubber games this year?

Depending on results, there's probably going to be a few games in rounds 25/26 that will have absolutely no impact on the top 8. In previous years we've seen some new things trialled during these 'dead rubber' games (e.g. two referees) - is there anything that needs to be trialled this year?

One thing I'd love to see is a match where the referees don't babysit the players the whole way through - don't keep yelling the tackle count, don't yell at someone if they're offside, don't reset scrums 100 times - just blow the damn penalty if it needs to be done!

Plus I'd like to trial having video referee decisions limited to the put-down only - if you've already ruled "play on" and a try is scored, you can't wuss out by getting the video to double-check it.

Anything else we could try?

Captains challenge. Same as cricket. Same as tennis. The only time the video ref is used is for foul play and captains challenge. The refs can just make their decisions then. There won't be any wasted time for players bluffing the put down.

Not a fan to be honest. Takes away from the integrity of the competition in a way. Just my opinion.

Captain's challenge will never happen. How would the refs being able to issue square ups and make sure teams getting towelled up get some ball?

If a ref feels a players is feigning injury he will start a 10 count, if the player doesn't get up they must be sent off the field for 5 mins of treatment.
